My wife and I have been together nearly 7 years, married since last 4th of July. If it wasnt for toys we would have never met.

I've been taking then with me to S7 when I go there on toy runs and get them a little toy as well - Brian and the staff are pretty cool to them free play under the tables - I figure one day my collection will be theres

16 years coming up on 2/29! Although she is not into toys, she knows that I am and that they make me happy, so she is okay with that! Plus, there are worse and more expensive hobbies that a fellow can have!

Differs state-by-state. No such thing in FL (at least not since the early 70's sometime). But, check into a hotel in some states as 'Mr. and Mrs.,' and you're potentially common-law married after one night, by virtue of publicly acknowledging yourself as married.
I once handled a doozy of a case involving common-law marriage - It looked like the common-law marriage was gonna hold up (and result in the 'wife' inheriting $14 mil), until we discovered that the 'wife' had a fully-paperworked husband in another state whom she'd neglected to divorce. If that hadn't ended it, the backup argument was that the 'husband' had undergone enough sex-change surgeries that the couple was no longer a man and a woman.
Not now married, but I have been and likely will be again one day.

I'm single right now(never been married). I'm not socially awkward, I've had my share of girls/girlfriends, just kind of hating on the female of the species at the moment due to recent events with a couple of fucktards and their nuttiness. It wasn't helping either that I was out of work for a while. So being the slightly balding, husky, tattooed, jobless toy collector doesn't make it easy to to talk to women. Part of that changed on Saturday, I passed the test to get into ConEd, granted I'm starting at the bottom as a meter reader, but hey what you gonna do...

EDIT: I obviously didn't read skylar's reply. haha!
I voted no, technically, but I've lived with the same person for 4 years and we use the terms "husband and wife" as in "if you were a good husband you'd pick me up at the train" or "i am just doing my wifely duties when i cook dinner" etc (all jokes)
but no ring or ceremony. i don't really care too much about that part, just want to be happy.
we'll probably end up common law. ha.

I never really understood the whole ring and ceremony thing.
Especially when some couples spend $75-100,000 for that single day. Yikes.

Look out, Missy! You don't wanna go announcing you're single on this board (or do you?), otherwise you'll be getting all sorts of PMs!
Actually, I'm surprised that roughly 60% of us are married or soon to be married (or consider ourselves to be married)!

Psht, $2,000 including flight, VEGAS BABY!
To me, the ceremony was important to "seal the deal" I guess. It makes it that much more permanent. Also, if my wife can't work for some reason some day, I have insurance and I don't need to worry about her. That's a big deal to me.
Sadly, to some, the whole POINT is the ring and ceremony and than that's it. I've seen that, it's sad.

yes, marriage is a special thing, but paying $50-$100K is simply crazy. that money in the bank would be the best wedding gift for a couple.

I told all my friends "go to Vegas, just you and your mate" and do it that way. They didn't listen. They regreted it MUWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! It was just me, the ol' lady, fat Elvis and my mom. Ruled, even though I puked.

I'm happily single right now, but would eventually like to settle down. She will have to be understanding of the toys though. They are like little children to me.
