Just curious - which Cronic figures do you own?

I don't know the names of the specific paint apps, but I have 4 zyu's, 3 mav's and 4 Bak's. (I know you hate abbreviated names, but I get tired of typing out each of their names every time!)

anyway, the main confusion I have is why these threads happen...I just don't understand what their purpose is...conversation is always good...but putting one of these threads in the SB, RxH or Gargamel thread would surely lead to instant thread lock or deletion...I once posted an innocent question about Gargamel which was deleted in less than a day...

Wow really? We can't just discuss our thoughts on the toys that we collective, love and sometimes long for? I thought that's what msg boards were for(?)

Why would I hate abbreviated names? I coined "Mav". 8)

But when people call a figure "asu" I'm like, which one??

Dorogami was the third Cronic figure, after Mav and Zyurai. It's been out for around 1.5 years. It's also Brian Flynn's favorite Cronic figure. (He's even a completist.)

Well, hell......now that I know that, sign me up!!

Actually, I like the Cronic Camguts and Eyezon, ALOT......

i'm a huge Cronic fan, but not a fan of every sculp. I really like the new dorome, but I don't collect nougaki. main addiction is the Mav.

Cronic's paint apps regardless of sculp are 2nd to none.

Oh....I just assumed, because one time I said "Mav" to you in a PM and you responded, uh...its real name is Maverasu!

This was a long long time ago...so maybe you've changed! haha...

*Edited to throw in the quote here...to avoid confusion of who my reply is for. :)

+1

I'm always so surprised when friends of mine have said "meh" to the Cronic figures I have.

I do have to say, I much prefer the clear painted versions over opaque. Looking at the clear painted versions in the light is what got me hooked!

Hmm, not so sure about the factoids... Anyway these threads always degenerate and bring the roaches out of the cracks, to answer your question about why people get defensive in threads that start off with negative titles and opening posts.

I think we need to get some pics up in this thread....

Sorry, I'll crawl back in my crack. Just curious as to why I would collect something JUST because (insert name here) collects it?

Not too sure why you'd do anything hilly, but I sure do see you dumping in a lot of random threads LOL. You come across as perpetually pissed off at the world.

That IS a great pic AND a great figure. Still don't know what Brian Flynn collecting something has to do with anything.

I don't mean to derail this thread any, but I have a question about some terminology that's been used here. andy has mentioned that Cronic's figs are "hand painted" versus bigger companies using "factories".

Well, first off, when I think "hand painted", I'm picturing a person with a brush and liquid paint. Hand sprayed would be a person holding an airbrush. So, to be clear, Cronic's toys are hand sprayed, right? Heh...maybe it's just semantics...

But still, how does this make them so different from other companies? Don't RxH and Gargamel, for instance, hand spray their toys too? Maybe the main designers/artists design a colorway master and have interns or some shit actually huddle over the compressor, but it's still a "hand sprayed" toy, right?

Even larger companies like Marusan hand spray everything. I'm only guessing here, but when Bandai churns out their sofubi by the trillions, they use programmed robots to spray up their toys...but that's Bandai!

Just trying to figure this weird distinction surrounding what Cronic does and supposedly how it's somehow better(?) than what other companies like Gargamel and RxH do.

Oh, and I don't know if it helps to qualify my query or not, but I have a couple Dorogami's and I love 'em to death... :)

Sanjeev, that's right they're mostly "hand sprayed" although Cronic also has toys that are brushed or "hand painted."

Naoki, to my knowledge, is the only "major" pachi kaiju designer who still paints everything himself. Other companies either have in house teams or send the work out to individual painters or firms, which are usually called "factories."

And in my mind, yes, it does make a difference that that the figures are painted by the original designer. That may not matter to other people, but it does to me.

I agree with this 1 million percent...but it never seems to apply to the big guns...if you posted that Rxh was "Dropping Off" after the first 4 main sculpts...there would be a full scale riot...

I don't want to prevent any thread from happening...I just was wondering why Cronic seems to get these threads...something I'M wondering just luke you were wondering if they dropped off...

all discussion is god discussion with a few exceptions...I was just making the point that negative threads in some other forums seem to be verboten...and this did start out a little negative...little bit.

you can probably start a thread with every other company also.... even real x head hasn't been able to come up with a sculpt that struck a chord like the original 4. so much that they had to resort to go to minis (not that that's exactly a bad thing... as they look pretty darn cool)

Lorne - you're dead on.

I said a few choice (though balanced) words about Secret Base a few months ago in a thread and caught all kinds of flak.

I guess it's not surprising that people get defensive about things they're passionate about.

Ah, well I was stating my opinion on a trend that I've been noticing of myself on how much I'm liking (or not liking) the more recent sculpts that a particular artist has.

Maybe I'm giving too much credit to this board that we can discuss toys without getting personal or into arguments and have threads de-generate??? I hope not.

This is why I come here and less and less to other *ahem* boards as of late. Discussing our thoughts on toys with maturity without getting defensive about what we like, but rather posting constructive thoughts to further the conversation is why I started this thread.

If I'm out of line..I digress! I just wanted to talk about Cronic and our thoughts on the toys!

although i rarely look at how many posts i have... i get surprised at how many more i have than some others. maybe because i can't resist saying how something is "cool" "rad" "meh" etc.

Nah, please keep giving that credit to the board. Those who "act out" are a minority. There are plenty of us who can handle diversity of opinion and taste without acting like someone just insulted our mothers.

jacranky - I'm disagreeing with you, not getting personal. Pretty huge difference.

You brought something up and a lot of people disagreed. Just gotta roll with it - no big deal.
