 Hedorah and Jet Jaguar...
i get what your saying, kind of. i think the reason the hedo sculpt attracts newer collectors is because, when learning about the hobby and the characters, hedorah comes up alot, at least it did for me. i was the same way at first. I don't get into the classic sculpts much, but i am a big gargamel fan and when i first started collecting them, i got pretty much stuff of every character except the hedos. after awhile, the melty blob found a soft spot in my heart, now i can't get enough of the fucker!

this is sooo true. i never even gave anguirus toys a chance until i saw the crazy bastard in action, rodan too!

 Hedorah and Jet Jaguar...
hillsy11 wrote: Baikin wrote: I think if Hedorah wasnt a TOHO monster people would still dig it. Its just an awesome design all in itself. I have HEDOs coming out my ass and it makes my wife nuts. Can you blame her? You've got Hedorahs coming out of your ass...get that checked out! I have to say that our wives/girlfriends/partners/boyfriends must have alot of tolerance to put up with the shit we collect. Mine just looks bemused, "Oh...another melty guy...so, does this one glow, or is it translucent?" (which applies to Hedorah, Damnedrons, and a multitude of other characters)
at least yours acknowledges the fact that they are something more than holes burned in the checkbook, cause that is all my wife can see!

hedorahs the grimiest and i mean that in ever sense of the word hes a sneaky ugly prick and he thrives on the human races biggest fuck ups, i.e. pollution and decay, i wouldnt be suprised to see hedorah on propaganda posters for global warming campaign etc...hes a real critique of the modern ways of waist and pollution

I really like the Godzilla Vs Hedorah movie, I think its probably the most quirky in the series, with some real 'hip' sequences with the hippy go go dancers and the ultra neat animated sequences with Hedorah huffing on smoke stacks and what have you. For me, personally, Hedorah just has a certain unique charm, and dare I say it, cute? *dodges the sharp objects that get thrown*
I really liked the way he reduced humans to skeletons and presented a pretty lethal threat. When it comes down to the toys, I think he has a lot of scope, as he transformed throughout the movie, which gives sculptors and collectors a good section to sink their teeth (and their bank balances) into.
Jet Jaguar was just bad ass, period. He had that insane grin on his face constantly when he was beating the piss outta the bad guys, and he wears moon boots, lol!
I just ordered the Kaiju Taro exclusive Hedorah, just take a look at that sculpt, and see just why people like this character so much!!!

Or a triple dolphin wave runner, at the very least.
Great points have been made in this thread already, but I think Sanjeev has really touched on all the important factors for me.
For me Hedorah and JJ are great to have toys of now, because they were favorite characters of mine as a kid, and I didn't have access to the very few toys that existed then. If you grew up with a love of the movies, the toys are an extension of that.

doh - I meant to say; "it sold out fast".
Iwakura also made some other cool ornaments; all of which were sold out by the time I saw them.
