Yeah, he's the guy that's listing figures at an almost 10x markup price on YJA... And some people have been paying it...

I just checked out his auctions...this is starting to get almost criminal...
look at his starting prices! almost $300 for the V3 Evil...and close to that for the Clear mini Mutant Head...
absurd. but not if someone pays it...

I wish he could be stopped too. It sucks. I have abstained from paying for this stuff at prices like his.
I could, but just not going to do it. This shit is getting out of hand on YJA.

Godzilla's a big lizard. no mystery there...what the eff is Chaos?
You're engaging in rhetorical wrangling rather than looking to convention. The Chaos Fighters might indeed be said to be "neo kaiju," emphasis on "neo," implying the DIY and postmodern factors. They are not "kaiju" in the conventional sense. Godzilla certainly is. "Giant mysterious beast" is a rough translation of what the Japanese term implies, not a literal translation, which as I understand, isn't precisely possible.

xoconostle wrote: Except that kaiju doesn't mean "monster" as simple and neat as that. Think of it more as "giant mysterious beast." There is no definition that's going to work perfectly for everyone but as Kingjoe does fall into the very conventional longstanding realm of traditional kaiju, being an Ultra foe, it's actually much more "kaiju" than the RxH Chaos, which has no media antecedent.
"Dai kaiju" ( Dai meaning giant) would refer to the more traditional "giant monsters" such as Godzilla or Ultraman foes. The term "Kaiju" itself however could still include in it's definition, humanoid size/like monsters as well from let's say Barom1 or Kamen Rider shows.
In the Mori's world of RxH are figures like Mutant Chaos giants or humanoid size?
I'll do search, just asking in mid typing stream.

True. I blame the distro network!
(xoco runs very far away and hides)
Thanks for the clarification on naokijb.

I thought humanoid/human-sized monsters were "kaijin?"
See how clear all this is?

I was thinking the same thing...to sort of steer it back to what this thread was about or regarding, we should ask Mori what he considers his toys. Then we have our answer.
and I love king Joe...it's just he's a Robot. Robots aren't "giant mysterious beasts," or at least where I come from they're not...maybe if we took one back to the dark ages or before he would be...but not in the 20th century when KJ first made an appearance.

LG...the time it wasnt out of hand on YJA was long before you and me.
It used to go to the flips direct from the table at the fests...now the shop seems to be the direct connection...probably easier than the Fests.
I need the Kamen Chaosman cause Im an RxH junkie and a Kamen Rider addict.

I'm afraid that further discussion about "kaiju" is going to look more like an argument than I intend. Probably best to just learn more about the history and enjoy some Ultraman DVDs. Literal parsing and rhetorical nit-picking don't really help with the definitions.

someone did pay it...hence why he's listing it that high...
all of this stuff dropped in Japan today eh?

I just checked the absurdity handbook and it says it's still absurd even if someone buys it, in fact it says the buyer is more absurd than the seller

flippers will cease to be when buyer stp paying the price.
In japan, I don't believe they call RxH kaiju.

Yeah it is a little convoluted, but I should re-phrase to say that "human" size creatures
do exsist on many Japanese shows that are not humanoid at all and I would consider those kaiju. I have piles of poster sheets from various shows like Lion Maru and others that depict some really bizzare non human monsters but human size creatures.
Sorry to get off track here, and I'm not trying argue at all, just discussing. Would love to hear Mori's backstory to his creations and inspirations.
