 Re: monster drawings
Not a monster per say but it is still a drawing. The header went with a custom Chaos...and I could have sworn those streaks from the marker weren't there... This one is for my mini Chaos that some have dubbed the Egypt Mini Chaos cause of the colors on the figure. I thought it was sold but the buyer never got back to me. Oh well.... and the drawing I did for the Kaiju Invades NYC show a few months back

 Re: monster drawings
When I decide to do a custom, I use a line drawing of the figure I'm going to paint as a template to come up with possible colorschemes before I start painting. Today I updated my skullwing template in photoshop, then decided to go a little further with it. Its based on one of my customs: Its initially a photo-manipulation, but it's as close as I get to drawing... Phil

 Re: monster drawings
Wow...you actually plan out your color patterns before painting. Maybe I should start doing that instead of the old "ah...maybe I'll try this color here....wow...that sucks" technique. I actually plan out what color goes where. I just do it in my head and move the airbrush around without firing any paint before I actually paint. Hmmm...planning out colors.....

 Re: monster drawings
Heh. Bert, your work is coming out so well I wouldn't necessarily change the a working combination... =) But yeah, on almost all my customs I do a rough draft first. Its never as in depth as that the picture I did today but I've got a small composition book that I keep in my pocket (one of those not sized ones) full of ideas written out and then sketched, I usually have it at work with me so when inspiration strikes I don't forget by the time I get home to paint.

 Re: monster drawings
This is another WIP for a board member for hooking me up. It's based on his original character. Hope you know who you are....

 Re: monster drawings
you should go crazy with the greens on the head too, camo style, and black tip the wings with a tiny bit of gold on the ends, then blood splatter the shit out of it. kind of a new rambo custom call it jungle holocaust

 Re: monster drawings
printed up some of my kaiju tiki themed artwork today...they're in the for sale section too. Pretty pleased with how they turned out, a little different for me with the happy colors and stuff...

smooth bristol board...buy it by the pad and slice it up...works great, flat surface, stiff, acid-free...

 Re: monster drawings
I wanted to do a lounging kaiju inspired monster so I did this guy. His eyes were copied from a Bandai Bemler figure with a little Kamen Rider spider guy....the tiki mug is from my shelf!

 Re: monster drawings
Congratulations to everyone on what is by far the best thread on this entire board.
What an amazing amount of talent on display.
The desolate landscapes and bulging eyeballs in my sketch diary will remain mercifully hidden.
