My flake level appears to be in the above 10 feedback ratings. I have also seen people with multiple hundreds feedback rating take forever to pay also!!

No negative feedback is total BS on E-bays part. I like how it is all put on the seller now to provide good "customer service" for a bunch of losers. I ship the same day or day after payment is received and some asshole said I took to long and lower my ratings and it affected my preferred listing average and dropped me. WTF? I guess I need to be able to send stuff via teleportation!

my frustration as a seller is that i had close to 400 positive feedbacks (100%) since 2001 and now in a span of 2 weeks i have 3 negatives because people are unpatient.

this is ridiculous...might leave ebay all together.

As a seller, this would piss me off... the only thing you can do is to 'rebut' your feedback on your own feedback page if someone hits you with a negative, but it offers no option of calling out bad buyers..

That being said, as a buyer, the only 3 negative feedback I had (The only negative feedback I had as either buyer or seller) were retaliation feedbacks from sellers who had screwed me and didn't like that I put negative feedback on them....so in order to protect my own rating, I stopped puting negative feedback on any sellers..I just didn't leave feedback for those transactions.

There was no win-win solution and that sucks.

(btw...I am probably the exception, but I actually do go hunt down and read the negative feedback on the sellers I deal with and ignore all feedback about slow delivery or shipping. I chalk it up to impatient buyers and/or the postal service. It's the 'One month and still no item!' feedbacks that get my attention)

I hate ebay. I look for any other option to selling with them. right now luckily i'm selling record vinyl so it's easier and more efficient on discogs.com. Ebay has such a racket set up now where you have to have a CC or debit card on file so they can automatically charge your account after auctions. Whatever happened to trusting the seller to pay his/her fees a week or two later or they suspend your account? Not to mention they have outrageous fees, and the fact that they own paypal and get their cut a 2nd time. If I want to be robbed I'd prefer it at gunpoint thanks!

As far as flakey buyers I've only had to cancel a "0" feedback bidder once, who ignored all of my auction conditions, basically he didn't pay, and I re-listed it and it sold immediately The no negative feedback sucks balls also. One time I had a guy leave negative feedback for me because he found a tiny black dot on the actual "toy box". He later admitted he broke up with his girlfriend and was in a bad mood that week. I tore him a new ass in my feedback to him (obviously this was before no negative feedback)...

Think what it's done is change everyone's(well, the regular users) idea of what constitutes a good/bad percentage. With how they now figure percentages, there's a lot of solid users sporting the most horrendous percentages they ever had on all their years on Ebay. Sucks how someone can end up with something crap like an 80% because they haven't used Ebay all that much in the current year and got a neg or a neutral. Guess it's supposed to encourage you to step up your buying/selling to raise your percentage? :roll:

One good thing though- if someone doesn't pay and negs you for trying to collect, ebay will remove the neg now.

If someone doesn't pay within 7 days file a non-paying bidder alert. In the old feedback system, it always seemed a bit harsh to do that so soon. I really don't understand a lot of these sellers at "eBay Live!" complaining. The vast majority of sellers here and on other niche collectors sites are small scale sellers that really won't be affected that badly. Who goes to "eBay Live!"? One guy in the first link claims he deals with over $300,000 per month in sales and with the new feedback system his business " almost put him out of business overnight". What exactly was this guy selling? He cites a per-sale price of $10-$50. For what? Is he one of these guys who buys pallets of cell phone/electronic accessories and flips them on eBay with horrible customer service? If so guys like him deserve to be put out of business.

Honestly, I haven't been active on eBay in 4 years (after being fairly active before) and nowadays it feels a lot better than it did in the past. The inability for a seller to "Neg" someone is a bit annoying, but at the same time sellers have more options to simply slam a buyer and shut them down behind the scenes.

Are there issues like this on Yahoo! Japan or other non-U.S. sites?

My g/f runs a pretty large ebay store selling car accessories and stuff and has worked hard to maintain a 100% positive feedback rating for the many years she's been doing this. FWIW, she said it's very obvious how much the pendulum has swung in favor of buyers since the new rules went into effect. Buyers are constantly trying to nickel and dime her (or outright extort her) for free stuff before they agree to leave positive feedback. In other words, many more unscrupulous buyers have been claiming something was not to their liking (package didn't arrive on time, something was wrong with the package, etc.) in order to extract a discount from the seller or ask for a free item before they are willing to leave positive feedback - and it's all because of the ebay policy change that prevents sellers from leaving negative feedback.

Ebay needs some competition to keep them honest.

Google and ebay got into a huge fight last year (i think) something about Google setting up a party on the same day as Ebay's and ebay said "yeah? ok, wanna play?" and ebay pulled all their ads from google, google broke down and changed the date.
But it was started from some larger flexing of muscles.

As a buyer I don't like ebay as much as I did, they seem to have changed the way it searches or something and I find it really annoying. I would love something different, but I don't see how something so large is going to get reasonable competition anytime soon.
Why ebay has decided to do what it has done with the seller feedback is beyond me.
Have they stated a reason for the change yet?
