 vintage oddities
Been a while since I posted up, so I thought I would post a few pictures of a few cool and weird things spotted on yahoo recently. First up: Kamen rider finger puppets. You see most of these from time to time, but this was he first time I had seen the Kumo Otoko (spider) and Hasami Jaguar but then again, I had never really looked for it either. Second: Kumo Otoko is one of my favorite Kamen Rider villains, so I try to pay attention. This auction included the rare brown vinyl version of the mini vinyl figure. This went for more than I expected, but probably not an unreasonable amount. I did not win, as I am a passive cheapskate on the KR villains. Third: A middle size missile firing Gaiking with box. What is not to like about gaiking, much less a missile firing version? Once again, I am not a super robot expert, so I had not seen this figure before. I really like the way it looks, especially with the box. Can any of the SR guys chime in and tell me how hard these are to find, as I need to get one of these bad boys. Fourth: IQ-9 from starblazers. The blue version can be found pretty much everywhere you look, still in bags. I had never seen the purple variant before. That said, I am not sure anyone will ever care. Fifth: Zaboga cycle, but in super mini size. For a mini plastic figure, this one sure is packing in the detail and a large number of separate pieces. kooky. sixth: There aren't a lot of toys for this guy, but three colors on a blow molded plastic bank could be hell to track down one by one if you were a completist. Lastly: Attack Frog! We wage war on the humans! Animated amphibians on the loose!

lol, that frog even has the french colours on its chest, it needs a beret and a red scarf. Did the Frogs/french ever get to drive a tank with their resistance?

 Re: vintage oddities
Ah, man....Sjoen needs to be on any discussion involving missile vinyls! I see the Gaiking now and again, and it's usually pretty spendy. I'd love one, but I'm a wimp when it comes to throwing down that much cash. I love those old candy toys (like the Zaborga and Gakeen)...Japanese collectors spend crazy money on those little things.

This I do remember from an old write up on TBDX. Very nice and rare.

I have a copy of SMH (In Japanese)with an article about this artist (very old) and his artwork was eternally superb. I would love anything vintage of him. And those cheapo plastic toys are fine quality crack. Whooop!

 Re: vintage oddities
Paul is right about that Gaiking, it's indeed a Magnemo vinyl. Pretty fucking rare! What did that one go for? Alen has one I think. I'll have to check the archives for a pic of the Combattler as well as the SUPER DUPER elusive Poem Govarian Magnemo sofubi, which is the rarest of them all. Magnets, Missiles and vinyl.. How much better does it get?
Also re the Gaiking. I "think" the magnemo is basically the sculpt of the scope vinyl sans missile firing arm and the the scope of course.. Maybe I can beg Alen to sell his to me and I can post an update. I bet he would too...

vintagevinyl wrote: saw this on yahoo . not sure if its vintage though . Well, wouldn't know if it was vintage, but I see that it's grouped with other yokai figures, so it might be a yokai character. Kinda like a Matt Groening yokai. Pretty cool.

 Re: vintage oddities
Not vintage - fairly recent Sunguts Mizuki bonus prize - send in the tickets from other Sunguts Mizuki figs, get the prize. There is a GID out there as well.
