It would be better if it had weird packaging.

This is a must buy. I'll wait for a discount coupon from deep discount before I buy it though. Last week this woulda been 25% off if it wasn't a presale.

For myself, I only have 3 of the 10 discs included here (Blue Velvet, Wild at Heart, and Eraserhead) so I'm psyched about the other stuff.. I've rented Dumbland, Elephant man, and the Short Films DVD, so it'll be good to take ownership of them. I'm hoping the picture book doesn't disappoint.

Re: David Lynch - The Lime Green Set
Big fan of David Lynch, esp "Eraserhead" & "Twin Peaks".
"Wild At Heart" is a great movie too. Wonder why he didn't just make a Directors Cut instead of putting all those bits on another disc? Maybe he already did? (Lol, what do I know!) Or maybe these extra/extended scenes don't really fit into the movie as a whole?
Also, wonder why no "Mulholland Drive" in this set?

Lynch released a hardcover book a long while back of a ton of his photography. weird book! the first half was a bunch of recognizably lynchian surrealistic imagery, but the second half was just page after page of pictures of snowmen in random front yards....

I don't have the remastered version of Eraserhead but I've seen it ... the level of detail in it surpasses any prior release, so I'll pick this up for that and the "mystery disc." If you haven't seen "the early films," do. The man was a brilliant animator before Eraserhead.

Maybe that has something to do with it. also, has anyone seen Inland Empire yet?

silver_lining_man wrote: also, has anyone seen Inland Empire yet? Yes. As I understand Lynch had more creative freedom on that than any other of his "major" films. It's dense and meandering, not as cohesive as Mulholland, but I liked it for a few very strong scenes and Laura Dern's excellent acting. However there are die-hard Lynch fans who feel it's "too indulgent" and "a mess." I think it takes more than one viewing to really "get," although I've only viewed it all the way through once. If you liked "Mulholland" and "Lost Highway" it's definitely worth seeing. Love the creepy/funny scene towards the beginning with Laura Dern's "neighbor."

It seems to me there must be a second similar box set with the 'rest' of David's career waiting in the wings. No parts of Twin Peaks Fire Walk with Me, Lost Highway, Mulholland Dr. or Inland Empire are represented here. At least I hope this is the case. Neither Lost Highway or Mulholland drive DVDs have any supplemental material (hell, Mulholland didn't even have chapters!)...and to me the Inland Empire DVD could use a re-release as cramming a 3 hour movie onto one disc was a major blunder, IMHO. The sound and video quality are both awful.

silver_lining_man wrote: Inland Empire Have coffee. It is great, but the really captivating moments are spread about, and a few hours in the lack of structure to the narrative weighs one's attention down. The climax kills for sure though. I know a guy who has watched it many times while journaling to get some idea of what is really going on. I would imagine it would benefit from repeat viewings, but it will take some time before I would be ready to watch it again.

Re: David Lynch - The Lime Green Set
I'm a big Lynch fan. I memorized the Cowboy scene in Mulholland Drive. I know he wasn't fond of Dune, but I felt he did an incredible job with this difficult movie. I've seen them all and I think Wild at Heart is my favorite.

Will he include chapter markers in this set or is it video on DVD like Mulholland Drive?

But wait a sec, he calls it a pan in that video. I was thinking to myself...that definitely looks like a pot! You should have also included "an inch of water".

Re: David Lynch - The Lime Green Set
Umm, what is Oli, another issue of this set? I hadn't actually heard of this before, so thank you for reviving it. It took me a while to realise this was such a long dead discussion (but that explains the posting members ).
