in a relationship and going to "he's just not that into you"
DON'T! I laughed a lot but felt bad for any guys in the movie because it really outs guys for the truth. Even husbands may find some parts that will make them squirm in the presence of their wife. Just saying. This has been a PSA brought to by the skullbrain support system.

I generally try to steer clear of anything that could possibly be categorized as "romantic" and "comedy". I'll be sure and coax the wife into seeing something else. PSA noted.

I don't know if someone could pay me enough to see this movie.
"Something About Mary" was good though.

It makes me so happy to say that I have no idea what this is. I hate romantic comedies with a passion that i do not have words for. Worst genre EVER!!!

I also walked out on the remake of 'Breathless' way back when. I'm also not counting my falling asleep in the theatre during the last hour of Star Wars Phantom Menace) Anyway... I don't really have a problem with musicals in general. I enjoyed Hairspray and especially Chicago. I even managed to make it through the movie version of Rent which, make no mistake, was awful. The combination of 'movie musical' and 'chick flick' in Mamma Mia flat out revolted me, though. Luckily my date agreed and we both left, but if she hadn't I think I'd have just left her there.

Re: in a relationship and going to "he's just not that into you"
I saw this with my wife and definetely had squirmy moments. I thought the movie was terrible but of course my wife loved it. I also can't stand chick flicks, but there are a few descent ones out there. Love Actually comes to mind (i agree with Alex) and even though it isnt a romantic comedy but one of the sappiest films I have seen (I mean every single person in the theatre sobbed like babies) was The Note Book. I got choked up.
Anywho, its payback this weekend. Taking the wife to see Friday the 13th.

I'm never going to go see this film so someone post spoilers about the "squirmy moments".
To me, squirmy is a Todd Solondz film such as "Happiness".

Re: in a relationship and going to "he's just not that into you"
1 in particular is the "if he is not marrying you..." he's is just not that into you. they come to argue against those points in the film but still...a little unfair to most guys who are currently in long term relationships.
yeah I dont know if I would consider love actually a rom com. Great movie though. There are currently 3 different copies of it in my house.
I still have never seen the notebook and refuse to unless baited by a girl into it.

I watched The Notebook at the insistance of my girlfriend. It wasn't terrible, but I would never watch it on my own.

I cant recall the name of the movie rightnow, but it stars Cameron Diaz, Christina Applegate and the chick who plays Liz Sherman in the Hellboy movies? Well, it is a certified chick flick, but its funny as fuck, and it has a scene where a bathroom full of hot chicks are feeling up Christina Applegates boobs noting " how real" they feel.Go rent it!

Somehow the idea of watching this seems more depressing than Heath Ledger's last performance as the Joker. I liked Sliding Doors, did that count as a chick flick?

That would be The Sweetest Thing. It's from a few years back, so it's from well before her cancer. It has its funny moments, and is one of the oddly few raunchy movies aimed at women.

Someone insisting that you watch something with them, knowing full well that you probably have no interest in it. I had an ex who did this. She would get batshit crazy cause I'd fall asleep watching something like "Shakespeare in Love".

Re: in a relationship and going to "he's just not that into you"
I wouldn't classify The Sweetest Thing as a chick flick. It is more like Forgetting Sarah Silverman, Knocked up, There's something about Mary, or other Farrelly Bros movies. It is gross out/rom com/slapstick. I thought it was funny as hell and way different/better than I expected. If you haven't seen it, and think it is an everyday chick flick, check it out. You may enjoy it.
