I am going to be reshooting my Gogas. Goga (any color) is still my favorite Anraku sculpt. They were one of the first figures I started photographing.

Here is Black (Aurora) Gogamezilla by Anraku Ansaku...

The Aurora is a beautiful version! One of the best!

This one is pretty nifty too...my newest acquisition!

Post Re: Getting Reacquainted With Goga
When I was in Tokyo, we went to the Mandarake in Akihabara and there was a case which contained this guy, along with about 5 mothers and more rare figures than you could shake a stick at. It had a NFS on it the day we went, but after asking some local friends about the case, it was determined that it was part of the Mandarake Akihabara 1st year Anniversary sale which was going to be held that coming Saturday.

Mark (living dead) got in line on Saturday morning at about 6:30 AM for the noon sale. We met up with him around 8:30 or 9, and began the waiting process. I still owe Mark big time for his dedication to getting in line so early. So around 11:30 we get split into lines, and make the hike up to the 8th floor where we wait patiently to go in an get what we want.

There were 7 people ahead of us, and ALL of them went straight to the TRansformers cases that were on the floor as well.

I got the goga! :D (at a steep price mind you) Mark also scored quite well

Oh and a note for all buying expensive things in Japan...be prepared to be declined on the purchase with a credit card. 3 cards declined, last one finally worked. All of the cards has no balance and nothing purchased with them all week...I was sweating bullets the whole time!

actually,,it doesn't matter what country you are going to,,always call your credit card companies before you leave,,,in these days of rife identity theft,,most cards will get declined if you do not let them know beforehand...

I definitely called all of them beforehand. Trying to sort out credit cards is a pain in the ass when in a foreign country.
When I got home and spoke to them, they basically said that even if you call ahead, it can be declined if it is a high price item. I think it was also because it was a random shop .

No biggie in the end though because he still came home with me! :)

Of course it's anraku! :)

I sent a photo over to let him know I was the one who got it and received a nice response as well :)

Hanging out with mark and having the "line experience" really makes owning this guy that much more special! :)

Do you know whether it was done specifically for the show, or was this something he had done some time in the past?

Congrats on the great score. Both your dedication payed off. Nice story too. Half the fun is the hunt, especially when the plan comes together.

It wasn't really a show per se. The figure is older and is done on the solid blue vinyl.

The z also has one done on the blue and has a similar but slightly different paint scheme :)

Yes rich, the runs on the aurora and the blue series were all painted with slightly different paint schemes hence making them sort-of "one-offs" but they are from the same release. the same for the brown and red series too.
The aurora is infact not black vinyl, but painted all-over black.
so i have been chasing ghost all these while, there is no unpainted black testshots at all.

Thanks for the info Joe :)

That had to be a hard pill to swallow for you with your black vinyl addiction.

Was it black paint? Or "chemical alteration" of the vinyl to make it black. As I recall way back when I ordered the Aurora, there was mention of some sort of chemical alteration (though maybe I am confusing this with something else). I will try to go back and find my old emails...

I miss being able to look at the "gallery" that Anraku had on the old Anraku website. Wish I had saved the pages.
