i think coop's dopeness comes from his line work. his steady hand and CRISP f'n shading make his paintings what they are. so unless the toy had his shading imposed on it [which would be a very kr looking piece of shit] there's really no way to make a great interpretation of his work, period.

I absolutely could not agree more. I opened this thread and was totally excited, only to be completely and utterly let down.

Haven't Mickey Rip toys been done to death? If he did that everyone would complain hes biting BxH.

i like Lil Mort a lot. I just don't think the sculptor did justice to the drawing. It doesn't have that classic cartoon vibe the painting has but more of a hot topic toy.

Saying that it's better than dr. mortality isn't saying much. That toy is terrible too. I think they both look like they should be sold at spencers.

sorry, but i gotta say i think coop is waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay overrated and the whole lo brow thing is tired. i know i'll prolly get major shit for saying this too, but whatever. with all that being said, this toy blows and someone already beat me to the punch with the whole spencers/hot topic jab. couldn't agree more.

Agreed. Both toys are among the worst I've seen in a long time. I can't say which is worse than the other - it's like asking me which piece of dog shit smells worse, the one I stepped in with my right foot or the one on my left foot.
Coop - meh. His line work is good and clean, but it does nothing for me (and I really enjoy clean lines). To quote Kathleen Hanna - "Like yawn. Like super fucking yawn."

I agree with what somebody said earlier, with his extensive toy collection, cash flow and contacts, you'd think he'd come up with an awesome jumbo machinder or something.
Still a fan of his art though.

I was inferring that it would be a sucky toy, but way way better than this.
I wouldn't see it as biting bxh at all, just as unoriginal.
But still would've been better than this.
And the dr mortality or whatever its name is was one of the worst toys from last year, so as others have said, if this is better, it doesn't mean much.

I'm not gonna argue art/low brow etc etc, I've just loved coop since I was young and saw devil girls and the lords of acid covers and rubenesque nuns having sex with devils, etc etc
this just doesn't live up to any of that.

Id take the dagger wielding mortality over this any day. Dagger versus the middle finger, I absolutely despise people still doing the middle finger bullshit.

I saw this at teh Coop preview - and its produced by my friends at Munky King - and yes it is a decent representation of teh painting (stencil), but it does come across as a bobble head type toy sold at Hot Topic.

Abe, I know u said you'd sign CxDxPx, but comparing this to Dr Mortality is an insult to Three Tides and Dr Mortality. While not my favorite SB Entertainment produced toy by a long shot - it is head and shoulders above Lil Mort IMO.

Does this mean you wont sign with Fugue State? I definitely see what people are railing on here (I think Grizzli's assesment of the lack of line work made me get what ppl are saying on this one) but IMO I think Dr. Mortality is just as guilty of being hot topic fodder as this and I'd still take the Coop over the good Doctor. But thats just one man's opinion so take it for what its worth.
