 Re: SB at SDCC?
Really? I liked INO's burgers, but they didn't change my life. I think what I liked more were their shakes. The fries sucked IMO too, they were just there, nothing added to the meal.
I prefered hitting tons of crummy, hole-in-the-wall Mexican joints when I was in San Diego.

Pretty much if it had more than 1 "Homies" vending machine, the people didn't speak English well/at all and fish tacos were on the menu, I hit it, and didn't miss.

Using 'skeezy' as a defining factor on where to eat! . . . .

 Re: SB at SDCC?
You are dead to me. In N Out to me is just a great fast food place that isn't too expensive (cough five guys) and the shakes are good, and you are crazy their fries are great (my friends always get theirs extra crispy) its all about the secret menu, I get a 4 meat, my best friend always got a 4x4. There was this really great desert/tea place a bit out in SD that one of my friends recommended when I was last out there (I'm a tea snob, only drink loose.) BloodDrinker6969 wrote: Really? I'm just saying, to me, it's not some insane burger place worth worshiping, but very much worth the visit. I've had just as good, or better, from other places around the countrty. Some chains, some indie, all cheap and greasy and great, just like In N Out. I guess I don't get the cult following is all since I don't find anything unique about it outside of the shakes which are better than most. That's not to say I don't find anything to LIKE about it, cause I do. Also, though I like 5 Guys food, I agree, overpriced.

 Re: SB at SDCC?
In N Out is just LA to me. lol
And mormons, its all about the mormons.
Since there are none out this way I think I miss it more than I should.
I always liked fatburgers shakes (before dairy became the enemy), and you can get skinny and fat fries.

 Re: SB at SDCC?
Seems to me In N Out has the same sort of hype that Krispy Kreme has/had - except that In N Out is actually good, where KK donuts suck. But I don't think INO really deserves the hype it gets - Dick's in Seattle is better, IMO. And Pilot Butte Burger in Bend, OR has the best burgers hands-down and fries that are of equal goodness - but they're neither fast nor cheap.

Hater. KK warm glazed donuts are amazing. I can't even eat dunkin and there aren't any indie places near me.

 Re: SB at SDCC?
Fatburger is good too, but for me In N Out has a lot of other things that make it great.
If you think the fries suck, you didn't get them animal style which makes them that much better. I don't know of any fast food places where you are going to get consistently hot/fresh cooked fries. And if you say any of the major chains, I'll tell you you're wrong unless you have some McDonald's mecca near you.
And the mormons. I like reading Bible scripture while I'm eating.
It also has good memories for me because we hit the one near LAX right before we head home. If you haven't been to that one, go and check it out. The international jumbo jets landing on the runway just outside the restaurant make it worth the stop.
The burgers are better at In N Out than at Fatburger IMO. I think we all have our own decisions about which are best, but In N Out definitely lives up to the hype for me.

I'm not even planning on eating too much while in San Diego...it takes away from the available spending funds

 Re: SB at SDCC?
INO use to be better. I swear their patties have gotten smaller. It's about half as thin as it was before. And there's a ton of great places to eat in San Diego.

I don't know what animal style is, and so I guess I didn't, but I'm always open to be proven wrong. Next year? Also I know lots of places that have hot/fresh cooked fries, many cut from real 'taters ON THE SPOT! Honestly, less in GA, but back home in Chicago, it's endless. When I said "chains" I didn't so much mean McDonalds or BK, but more places like In N Out and Five Guys. Yes, they're small in comparison, but they're bigger then hole-in-the-walls so I didn't know what else to call them. I've also never had Fatburgers, but the name is enough to get me in the door if I'm ever in the vacinity. Was this an SB thread at one point?

 Re: SB at SDCC?
Hey BD6969- They finally opened up a Fatbuger near Chicago, in Orland Park, IL (okay, so it isn't that close to Chicago), but it's worth the trip the next time you head back up here.
BTW, how did my SB at SDCC thread end up being a food thread? I'm getting hungry now...

http://www.in-n-out.com/secretmenu.asphttp://fatburger.com/Location/LocationsByState.aspxI think five guys is way hype, and I swear they've changed their burgers lately. That and I prefer going somwhere like in n out where I don't spend 6 bucks just on the burger.

Next time = FULL TIME! SOON! Maybe Hiddy should consider a fast food chain? I'd rather see the Skull Brain slapped all over vs. Ronald....maybe not.

Ironically enough I noticed there is now an MD location about an hour from DC so I was planning a drive to get fatburger.

 Re: SB at SDCC?
Animal style fries are cooked with gooey cheese, grilled diced onion and spread and served boxed. Anything less than a double double at in n out is pointless. At least that if you want to taste the meat, if you are a big carnivore go with the 4x4, its 4 meat 4 cheese, but you can order that however you want, like a 6x3 or 3x6 for instance. Ciro's pizza is the best place downtown to get a new york style slice of pizza too, good and cheap!
