Whats really messed up is there are players in the NFL that have been convicted of beating their wives, drunk driving, Manslaughter and they are still playing and pulling in big money.Thats why Pro sports suck.

The prosecutors were probably scared of a high profile loss. I'd estimate their chances of losing in Richmond as very remote but this administration's officials only have guts when someone else is accountable.

In any event his career is likely over (for the most part), his marketability is nil, he can't torture any dogs for awhile either and can't breed them legally at all.

Generally pro sports contracts have morals clauses so maybe he'll have to return his bonus money and see his contract voided but maybe not.

Its about what I expected. He'll do some time, get fined, his career will take a massive hit and he'll lose his endorsements.

I'd like to see him executed (which was not a possibility at all) but at least he won't walk.

i hope he never plays again. what sucks is the NFL looks at the gambling aspect of this case as the worst part. Hopefully the NFL will ban him for life for violating the general conduct policy. either way, fuck that piece of shit.

Damn, when I was a kid football players were one of the types of men that boys were encouraged to look up to. These days you have to "have a little talk" with kids when it comes to pro sports figures.

I don't understand how/why any law would allow hunting of bears, deers, ducks etc in the US. My sister in law's ex boyfriend visited us in Hong Kong over yum cha and he proudly showed us his photos of a dead bear he just shot down (him standing next it with a huge grin). I swear I nearly punched him in the mouth, but thought better of it in case he hunted me with his shotgun...who knows since he'll definitely shoot anything from the back...

The thing with Michael Vick is what he did was sick, but there are tons of guys playing who just haven't been caught or simply got off and never had stuff like this destroy their career. There's a double-standard. It's like when Pete Rose was busted for betting on baseball... ZOMG! You mean people who are directly involved in sports bet on sports? Why was he raked through the coals so badly while others barely get a wink...

Vick did his time, and as I see it, is within his full rights to play football now that he served his time.

I do not defend his severely poor choice in investing and participating in dog fighting competitions. Any sort of fighting competition outside of human to human is absolutely and poetically inhumane.

I don't see the problem as he paid his dues and is allowed back into free society.

Unless of course that's what you guys don't think. Which is a major issue in our society. ExCons are always marked as such, and are offered next to no assistance in the "Real World" when it comes to getting back into free society. That their debts can never be repaid. NonCons want to sit there and permanently judge ExCons, which only causes ExCons to go back to being Cons because they simply can't make a living otherwise.

Is this an argument that ExCons shouldn't be allowed back in free society because we don't believe our judicial system is harsh enough? If not, then your argument that he shouldn't be allowed to play Football again falls flat on it's face as well.

Dog Fighting isn't within the realm of Football, and thus shouldn't be a hinderance to playing Football. Had he pulled a Pete Rose and gambled on the sport he was playing in, then a permaban would seem completely fair.

But he wasn't. Instead he was in his spare time engaging in an activity that was pretty disgusting. But yet, not related to Football whatsoever.

Convicts doing their time and getting jobs after release is one thing, but being paid millions as sports super stars after committing heinous acts is another.

I think the other thing that really turns people off, is the lack of recognition, and remorse for his crimes that Vick has shown.
