You caught me Brian and yes, I should do my own homework. I knew the character, but mostly from the Rainbow version. I truly don't know who issued the vintage, but if it's in one of the magazines, I'll find it. shakes rust off of kaiju brain

Thank you for the link and info Mark! I am quite jealous of Onibaba5's collection. And... Congratulations Tim! I hope you'll share some detailed photos of you prize with us here. I wonder what percentage of JYA auctions have Skullbrainer's bidding for the same vintage toys? Do the locals just buy at the local shops and JYA is just a vintage toy resource for us Western collectors?

There are still some good things to be had at stores, but far less than there once was. Most stores in Japan put the lion's share of their good stuff on YJA, now. I think there are far more Japanese collectors using YJA than US collectors (and skullbrain is a much smaller part of that, even).

That's a good one, I always thought that all the best toys were stuffed behind glass at the toy stores in Japan! It's interesting to hear that "we" aren't just competing amongst ourselves then. Thanks for the info Hillsy11 . I'm still hoping to go to JP one day to take in the sights and stuff my travel duffels with toys , at least you can truly see what condition the toy is in, without having to rely on photos (especially when one of your JYA toys arrives squished! ) joshuajh wrote: foiled again! even with broken teeth.... oh well, life goes on, empty and meaningless . Sorry to hear you missed out on the talking tiger Josh . I'm sure your life isn't meaningless--especially with all of your art! Can someone say what the closing price was? I forgot to bookmark it.

Oh, don't get me wrong...a trip to Japan is still worth it (and fun as hell). And you can still find some gems at Nakano Broadway and the Mandarakes. The most fun for me though usually isn't toy related!
