Does that "machindershop" user group-thing still exist?
Well, if not, this is absolutely a
TBDX question, as all the hardcore (active) Jumbo collectors and customizers are there.

i just need a godzilla fist. I'm thinking of getting one sculpted holding a train then cast in resin.

^^ That actually sounds genius to me!
A bit incongruous with the rocket punch gimmick though...

well, allow me to be the first to grab some...that's awesome news! i'll leave the firing button intact now - was going to customize over it because i'd pretty much given up on ever getting my hands on them without buying a whole new MIB.

Very cool! I love seeing stuff like this!

i'd have to check, but i grabbed the one off my Popy Raideen with the bowfist..
Sun Jan 22, 2012 4:25 pm
i'll buy a couple either way, just to fill the space on him, but it would be so great if it fired...
mine's probably not the bowfist, which i think is earlier, if not first edition...(he's actually missing the left fist, which is fine because i'm kit bashing a custom arm), but it did not ever have the shoulder guards attached, so i'm pretty sure it's the final cheapo make of the raydeen. he's also missing one wheel truck and axle.
on the bright side, i paid about $1.50 for it at the thrift store...and got approached by 2 different people while holding it in the checkout line

The bowfist is obviously the original Popy, and only the first version Shogun (ALL the Shoguns had the bowfist replaced with the Mazinger Iron Cutter) used the original Popy launcher (circular hole on the Delta Wing).
atom gray, if you know you need the square hole version of the Delta Wing, it's from the later Shoguns...and the original won't work. :/

hmm that's odd.. i just checked my delta wing and it has that notch at the end.. and im pretty sure my raydeen is the popy version.. its shorter than the Mattel one if im not mistaken..

not surprising, there's a couple anomalies i've run across already trying to place this one as well. my wheel trucks are black snap-on, and according to wildtoy's page, they're only either molded on or screwed on. i can see on the bottom of the foot where it looks like they were molded in place, but the hole was never drilled.
i'll take a pic of the manufacture markings soonish, in the interest of science...
but, in any case, the firing pin IS square, so i figure the notched one is what i'm looking for...and as i said, i'll happily purchase the repro either way, just to get him looking complete.
cheers.

I have 3 Mattel Raydeens including the first and last versions and they all have snap on black wheel trucks. I think only the popy raydeen has molded wheel trucks.
1.50 is a bargin !!

so...i'm guessing you don't have a bowfist in there anywhere?
do all of yours have the square firing pin with the notched missle???
aspiring minds want to know...!

Interesting! I'll ask around to see if I can dig up more info on these variations, but I'm pretty damn certain the Popy and 1st ver Shoguns had circular pegs. Can you take a photo of the side of the knee of your Raideen*? Weirdly, that geometry was changed in the later Shogun releases, so it's pretty distinctive.
[* By the way, it's probably more accurate to romanize his name as
Raideen. It's pronounced rie-deen (think "rye bread"). I've noticed a lot of people romanize it as "Reideen" or "Raydeen", but saying his name like ray-deen (as in "ray gun") is incorrect.]
