I'm not too upset about Edgar getting the decision, I just like a more clear cut decision. In fact, when it comes to championship bouts, I don't like decisions at all.

Something I found interesting: Saw a pre-fight interview with Dana White talking about BJ Penn, the lightweight title, and who was left to challenge Penn if he were to win the Edgar fight. The probability of BJ having to vacate the title and move up in weight was discussed. Made me wonder if Penn knew of this possibility and, not wanting to go to a higher weight class, left the fight slide knowing he'd be able to fight back up and get his title back. Which would explain why I was frustrated that not once did Penn try to take the fight to the mat. I think he could have easily beat Edgar on the ground.

interesting... i agree, i'm not sure why BJ didn't try to take him down more as well. I think it's one of those things that BJ wanted to bang cause he thought his boxing was better. problem is that he just never was able to get into any kind of rhythm...

I don't think Penn has any fear of going up in weight. He's fought Machida at heavyweight, guy is tough as a bag of nails. He's been all over in weight, even held the welterweight title too.

Yeah- the whole wanting to just duke it out is prolly more likely. But even BJ's corner was telling him to take Edgar down... just sayin.
