 The Black Hole movie toys
This is one of my favorite space movies, I started collecting the toys years ago but never finished the full set. The other day I dug the collection out of storage and snapped some photos to put on my Flickr. Here is my fav.. Maximillian This "action" figure cant move at all, and can't even stand (thats why my hand is in the pic.) Click my Flickr link to see more photos.

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
Don't the arms and head move? And didn't it come with a stand?

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
The arms do not move, the head might.. never did try turning it, seems very stiff. I only have the figure loose, I will look up if he came with a stand. Thanks for the info. Update: came with a stand found this link http://www.toymania.com/334archives/black/index.htm

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
That's cool! I love Max. Didn't Takara make Magemo versions of the Blackholebots?

Gig did. They made Maximillian, Vincent, and Star. I used to have Vincent, it was really cool. Good resource for the toys: http://www.bugeyedmonster.com/black-hole/More goodies here: http://threads.rebelscum.com/showflat.p ... t=all&vc=1

Mindstyle also recently did a Vincent. I believe they also did it in a couple of colorways.

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
I thought Mindstyle were going to make a bunch of them but only did VINCENT. Shame it was so pricey.

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
I remember a load of Blackhole toys coming out in Shreddies boxes. I was'nt much of a fan of the film though, I think i compared it too much to Star Wars. I prefered the bots in Silent Running...........made me cry

They loose focus if they don't make a bajillion bucks right off the initial offering. I know a couple of artists who were ecstatic when their contracts were up even despite decent sales.

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
As I recall Max floated everywhere, in gravity or zero-g. Makes perfect sense for him not to be able to stand on his own. One slightly too literal toy designer

Yeah, Mindstyle does'nt have a very good rep. Come across as a little controlling over the artists. A shame, as the quality of their stuff was always really good.

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
There's a review of that Vincent on CollectionDX, apparently Mindstyle didn't do such a good job with it. Sloppy tampo printing and nothing moves on it. Doesn't sound fun for $130.

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
Really? Christ I thought it was about 95 and that was too pricey...130 is a joke.

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
I've handled the Magnemo guard robot, and it was unbelievably cool... the GIG figures are on my grail list. I remember renting this movie from Blockbuster when I was real little and it freaking me the fuck out. I think I blocked out parts, because I never remembered or understood what happened. Finally saw it again last year, and it holds up surprisingly well... and the fact that there are magnemo figures is just icing!

Re: The Black Hole movie toys
The MPC model kits are great. I built and painted a Vincent about 10 years ago and it's really a great piece. Comes with a wire arm so it floats over the stand.
They did a Max and Cygnus as well.
I've been meaning to get another kit and modify it into an Old Bob...would be a lot of work, but I still want to do it someday.
The Kubricks that Medicom did (Old Bob, Vincent and Max) are pretty well done. worth seeking out if you like Black Hole.
