 THRILLER from JAPAN
I know these guys have been discussed before but I just got a couple figures in from THRILLER from JAPAN. They do immaculate resin figures inspired by vintage marx toys and Kustom Kulture. He was in that Michell J. Junx custom show too. So heres some pics of my latest from this resin king, His site is here if you want to see more: http://southfactory.blog109.fc2.com/These guys are inspired by the Marx Toys Nutty Mads and I think theyre an awesome homage. Im so stoked to have these guys in my collection! First a size comparison to standard size kaiju (that blue seijin dude from bear model) The theres Digger who really my favorite very clean sculpt and great character design and a back shot to show the detail (despite my crappy photos) that little ball thing hes holding is an 8 ball Then theres the Weird Oops - hes a two part cast with the head and neck connected to the base of his shoulders.

Yeah, these are great. Nice pick ups. I'm sure they look nice next to the blue Globulon.

 Re: THRILLER from JAPAN
On another re-make note. Not too long ago they came out with a new weird-oh action figure set (I've got a few including Digger.) They come with a little magnet and a reproduction pack of weird-oh cards. Here's a picture of the set.

 Re: THRILLER from JAPAN
those skateboard wierd-ohs are terrible!
I hate when they do shit like that...why not just make action figures the way the characters used to be? some of these guys look absurd with skateboards.
I have been working on a Wierd-Oh model kit ("Daddy") whenever I go visit my grandparents in Florida for the last 5 years. I take it out, paint one little detail or part, and then put it back until I come back months later. I go twice a year and still haven't finished the effing thing.

I wasn't a big fan of the skate board. But just a necessary evil til someone gets them right. Doesn't make sense, it's not like a bunch of 10 year olds are picking them up. They have to figure adult collectors are mostly going to buy, so why the skateboard. I want to see the kit, most of the people on this forum probably don't know that Lorne is quite the artist.

I actually realized you got them from us after I posted... if I liked everything in the store I'd have to star in a remake of Sybil!

 Re: THRILLER from JAPAN
You can dye magic sculpt with resin dyes. I do that sometimes. The dyes are pretty generic in color, but the clay is a light grey so just a tiny amount of dye might bring you close enough you won't need paint.

 Re: THRILLER from JAPAN
I dunno I think that they are right in line with other Japanese Resin companies. Not toy companies but resin kit type cos. Also individually theyre 7350 ¥ so its not totally out of line. Admittedly I cant afford the set either but I think his pricing is ok.

 Re: THRILLER from JAPAN
the base on the feet is a cheap way out of making a figure that actually stands. sure it might be reminiscent of the nutty-mads and other marx toys with that detail, but as someone who makes resin it just seems odd. the sculpting is awesome, so it really just seems kind of lame to me to have that base.
otherwise the sculpts are cool. you know, cool in that way that they look like everything else derived from ed roth and nutty mads. waiting for more work from this company to see if they do anything more original. there is some good texture and i guess i'd say the hick with chicken is best. is he supposed to be a confederate soldier?

 Re: THRILLER from JAPAN
This is so true, and I actually overlooked that fact at first. But it doesn't bother me as much, I like to stay with the idea that, that is, in fact a tribute to nutty-mads. My favorite is the crazy 'napoleon'. uberboy wrote: the base on the feet is a cheap way out of making a figure that actually stands.
