Re: Beer Bier Cerveza Bière بيرة Пиво Pivo Bira ビール
we got small breweries here in the nutmeg state. http://www.oldeburnsidebrewing.com/ourbrews.html http://newenglandbrewing.com/brews.html Back in high school my friend got a case of Sheaf Stout. It was like drinking motor oil. And, I had this once, it was very good (Innis & Gunn of Scotland) http://www.innisandgunn.com/index.htm I used to drink Miller High Life like it was water (and Black Label before that) but my recovery time was getting longer and longer (3 day hangovers). Now I tend to drink Guinness as a my standby when there is nothing better. I can drink 3 Guinness between 11pm and 1am and still be at work on time the next day.

I've never had the imperial stout either but I was able to get an empty bottle for a friend. I've had some art on display a couple times at the brewery where they made it. This quote is from last year and I did see it for sale at a bar earlier this year (where I got the empty) I'll try to find out if it's getting brewed next year and post it to this thread. http://www.drinkswithnathan.com/2009/06 ... t-trooper/“We thought the Imperial Storm Trooper would be a one time only brew, as we expected a cease and desist order from Lucas Films. It never came, though, so you’ll probably see it again next year.” head brewer Rob Leonard of the New England Brewing Company.

Re: Beer Bier Cerveza Bière بيرة Пиво Pivo Bira ビール
a little more searching and I found that they did in fact get a letter from the dark lord of the Sith earlier this year. http://beeradvocate.com/forum/read/2528909 Looks like they are just going to change the name and label and continue to brew the blend. It apparently did get good reviews. I've also just read that the barrel aged version of the stout was awful. I'm really not THAT big into beer tasting but I can see that people take this stuff very seriously, detailing the glass used and serving type (bottle or can) as well as the characteristics of the beers themselves. Trading beers. Collecting them. Tonight as I wrote this, I drank a bottle of Sam Adams Chocolate Bock that I got from a class I had earlier where a team's presentation was on that company. I bought two Dogfish Head six packs for Thanksgiving, Indian Brown Ale and the Raison D'Etre. I wasn't too excited by the Indian Brown but the Raison was really good. Despite listing green raisins on the label (and Belgian beet sugars), I bought it anyway. I've had the 90 Minute Imperial IPA too but the Raison ends up being the best of these three in my opinion.

Damn, that sucks about the Imperial Stout Trooper. Hopefully this place near my house will have it, they carry about 600 different bottled beers. I haven't had the Raison from DFH. But the 90 min. IPA is good and I love the Punkin Ale and Aprihop IPA from DFH.

Just had Blind Pig IPA from Russian River last night. A very good IPA, with great balance and just the right amount of hoppyness. A must for any of you that like IPAs.

I went to grab some of this years batch on friday and they didn't fuckin have it. The bartender said that Anchor got bought out by Skyy vodka and that they're supposed to be brewing the same stuff but that he hasn't seen any Anchor come in since this happened. They must be going through transition? I need my "Merry Christmas Happy New Year"!!

Two of my very favorites (Yuengling was the beer served at my wedding...in Philly, of course!): I love trappist beers, especially when it's cold outside. And for those days that I'm not feeling beer and need a break: It happens to be an excellent, smooth Pinot Grigio!

So great. Did you notice all the malts and hops are listed on the side? I made my favorite home brew based on the ingredients in that beer. I posted this in the other thread: I would say Orval is my favorite at this point. Also, I'm not huge on fruit beer, but this sour cherry one is GRREEAT!

Just had Trader Joes 2010 Vintage Ale. It is very good! I recommend that you guys go get a bottle or two or three at your local Trader Joe's. And at only $4.99 per bottle it's a great deal.

Just had Bootlegger's Brewery Knuckle Sandwich. It is an Imperial IPA. I recommend it. It tastes similar to Pliny the Elder. Has a nice amount of hoppiness in it.

Re: Beer Bier Cerveza Bière بيرة Пиво Pivo Bira ビール
Just went to a local sandwich place that happens to serve over 600 kinds of beer. Mostly bottled beers, but they always have 10 beers on tap and they rotate every month. This month they had porters and stouts on tap.
I had the Coronado Imperial Stout, Victory Storm King imperial stout, Avery Czar imperial stout, Abita Vanilla porter, and North Coast Old #38 stout.
My favorite was the Victory Storm King, and my least favorite was the Abita Vanilla porter.
For those of you that like stouts, I would recommend the Victory Storm King.

Victory rules, I go to the brewery once in a while. My cousin lives right by it.

Re: Beer Bier Cerveza Bière بيرة Пиво Pivo Bira ビール
I know this is a bit old and some people didn't much care for it, but I wanted to check if anyone mentioned Victory...got almost to the end of the thread, and then there it is! I've been trying a few more beers and thought I would come back and have a look.
I've only had 2 of their beers so far, Golden Monkey and Storm King Stout. I like them both quite a bit, not expecting much of the Golden Monkey it completely surprised me...and Storm King was expectedly delightful. I want to try more soon, especially their Festbier, which I hear many say has a quality of cracked peanut shells/peanut butter...sounds amazing!

I will try to score some of the Bier you all mentioned as being your favorites. My Bier habbit consist of plain and simple bier like Grolsch, Jupiler or Heiniken. To get really drunk I will add an additional Brugse Triple;) Duvel is one of my favortes as well.
