 Re: E A R T H * Q U A K E
a HUGE aftershock just hit Another BIG one that lasted a while. I hope everyone is okay. My family ran out the door at 10:30 pm, but hopefully that is all. I'm still shaking, but I don't think Japan is at the moment.

A "6", but still just "an aftershock" *, as Mark said, it was also very near mondo. You okay man? Meh ... He's prob asleep actually. (Edit: 90mins later & they're telling us this was an unrelated event.)

 Re: E A R T H * Q U A K E
So not to be insensitive in this obvious tragedy, but with elevated radiation levels even in Tokyo, I'm wondering if the US will temporarily ban mail/packages coming from Japan? Seems like they will use any excuse to do this normally anyhow (exaggerated terrorist plot etc). I've read conflicting reports online as to the extent of the radiation levels in Tokyo and areas surrounding the plant. I'm not keen on getting a non glow toy that really does glow in the bad way when it arrives. Yes I'm a certified hypochondriac.

 Re: E A R T H * Q U A K E
Sorry to be insensitive to plastic collectors, but I have zero concern for my or anyone else's toys right now and a huge amount of concern for friends and family. I'm considering postponing my return flight to Japan pending a clearer picture of what's going on with the nuclear situation.
I hope everyone in Japan is well-stocked with bottled water and food. One thing that might be worth doing is upgrading your water filter to the best you can buy. Not saying it's a panacea for anything, but it might help in some small way.
Best of luck to everyone. Stay strong.

Hey Koji, don't know if you can help with this… I used your instructions to place the order, but my email that I received says 1,500円 for the price. Will we be getting another email that says how much the total is with shipping?

You should receive a PayPal invoice including the total with shipping. FFS!

 Re: E A R T H * Q U A K E
Calm down. I asked because I saw that Koji said that there would be an invoice, but the invoice I received was the same price that was listed online. I was asking about a second invoice.
But thanks for the help, those that PM'd me.

Absolutely tasteless. EDIT: Removed from visibility, yeah it was stupid to post I guess but it still shows just how ignorant/insensitive people can be. PM me if you want to see the cartoon.

What a relief, seems like the situation is under control. Of course the economy and radiation leak will need some serious work but glad to see things turning around. Stay strong our friends in Japan!

The French press has blown a lot of this stuff out of proportion. People in Tokyo aren't panicking. You can't find bread, but otherwise, food isn't hard to find. The radiation levels are nowhere near dangerous levels in Tokyo. Honestly, you're going to get more radiation on a plane ride home than if you live in Tokyo. For those interested, this was a conference from today: http://japan.usembassy.gov/e/p/tp-20110316-06.html

 Re: E A R T H * Q U A K E
I read everywhere that the situation in Tokyo is kind of quite and safe.
But Fukushima ? they are speaking about an accident that could be worse than Tchernobyl !
This, and the fact that the Emperor spoke today...last time, it was in 1945...

I guess everyone saw M1GO's post, but if you didn't: http://m1go.com/news/Eiji Kaminaga from Marusan has also been posting about what it's like in Tokyo, from this point on he's going to attempt some bilingual blogging: http://ameblo.jp/marusankaminaga/

This, and the fact that the Emperor spoke today...last time, it was in 1945... Any and all comparisons to Chernobyl are borne out of complete ignorance of the situation and technology involved. This has been a common theme among increasingly ignorant and fear-mongering press.

From the French point of view, actually, the news should be much more carefull as we have a lot of nuclear power plants around the country. But really, from what I reading, this is really not good looking...
