 Re: 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
ah...saw a different angle and it is a north/south hit vs lateral. It is a blind-side only because Horton's head is turned...but in the NHL rulebook, that is probably not taken into account. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pUYqTE3cnuQHere's the video I've been watching. Fast forward to about 1:55, it is the other angle that I've been watching where it is closer but to the side of the ice vs down the length of the ice. It's still a bad play because Rome was a late on the hit...and Chara still sucks.

It's still a bad play because Rome was a late on the hit...and Chara still sucks. it's a dick move by Rome sure, but i think the severity was just because of a few accidental factors: 1: Rome winds up to check him, and as he does so, Horton begins to crouch. Had Horton been standing up, Rome's shoulder would have him him in the chest. 2: Horton wasn't looking, meaning he was loose as a lamb when the impact occurred 3: Horton hits that ice flat and frikkin' hard i feel for Horton, he looks out cold on the ice, and Rome is in the wrong, but I think beginning to throw around the 'i'll never support Vancouver after that despicable' move flag is an over-simplistic view. In a game with so many penalties this could easily have been the other way around. now what we should really be talking about, is that INSANE body check save by Thomas! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=69lp5f0F5aUi've never ever seen a goalie own someone like that!

 Re: 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
The Rome hit completely over-shadowed the one by Thomas that I forgot to look it up. Thanks for that. It was awesome!! I am watching that clip over and over again.

Yeah that's the clip I posted and the one I've been watching also.

Yup, "I was looking the wrong way" is not a good excuse when you get crushed. I have to admit as a Canuck fan, I did laugh my ass off at that. And I thought it would have been even more awesome if Luongo scrapped Thomas after he hit Sedin. It would have been classic

It would have been classic yeah hard not to like that even if it's from the one guy that might steal your trophy. i think what makes the save so awesome in my book is that it was a really inspiring piece of play by Sedin. From the steal to the puck-grab. He was so close to finishing off a great goal, and then Thomas steps up and basically b!tch slaps him.

Between the game, working late, and the drama in D-Lux's show off thread, it has been a full evening. Haha.

 Re: 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Wow, the only canuck to show composure is the back-up goalie Schneider. I knew Boston is great at home but I didn't think Vancouver would be that rattled to play in that building. I'm fucking glad we have home-ice advantage for the best of 3 coming up...

Haha. jesus, tell me about it. i'm a grown man, but reading that thread made me feel like the skullbaby i really am. Maybe I should phone Luongo for some tips on how to deal with it all - the boy looks like he might catch the next puck in that gaping WTF mouth of his.

 Re: 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
What do you guys think. Will Tim Thomas physical play, ie checking, become more widespread if Boston wins the cup. While it was fun to watch if everyone did it scoreing would go way down.

 Re: 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Thomas is an aggressive goaltender, by aggressive I mean his playing style (coming way out to make saves etc). As far as him checking or 'getting into it' with Burrows or Sedin, Vancouver started the BS and the Bruins are just kind of sick of the pettiness. I don't think it will be a carry over thing into next season or anything. At least that's how it appears to me. I mean the Bruins are no saints either, but taking out Horton was probably the one critical error Vancouver made that awoke the sleeping bears. You get a team as riled up as the Bruins are and because of that hit it carried over huge. I mean outscoring them 12-1, shutting down their top lines, canceling out their powerplay. I really do think the Bruins are out for blood and will want to win in Vancouver tomorrow night so they can hoist the cup in Boston Monday. Let's face it if they get a lead in Vancouver and run away with the game again, all pumped up, Canucks might as well not show up Monday night in Boston.

 Re: 2011 Stanley Cup Playoffs
Can I tell you how much I HATE Pierre Mcguire? Check out this statement with 25 seconds left in the 2nd: "Claude Julian needs to take a time out to give Chara a rest to get him back out against the Sedin Twins, he's out of gas..." OK Pierre let's waste a valuable time out with 25 seconds left in the period because no one can defend against the Sedin's except Chara. What hockey coaching school did you go to Pierre?

I jsut got home so i havnet been watching the game but i agree about Mcguire. I hat NBC broadcast, the play-by-play and color are so bad. I love my local radio broadcast the best, too bad i can't get it to line up with the T.V.
