What in the fuck is wrong with people?

I heard about this but have no desire to see it happen.
I wondered if it was possibly more of a cultural difference also?

I read on other boards that people in China who try to offer help get sued/in trouble so often that they just don't try to be a good samaritan anymore. For example, someone who tries to help (and saves!) a drowning person might be blamed by the family as the person who caused the potential drowning in the first place, and if there were no other witnesses to prove innocence, the good samaritan has to pay. So in this case, people probably didn't know there was a camera there and didn't want to be blamed by the child's family as the person who ran over the child as it would be hard to prove they didn't injure the child themselves

As for the original truck, I think it continued slowly over the child to try to murder her. My mom explained to me years ago (she's from Taiwan) about truck drivers who hit other cars or run over someone and then they drive back over to make sure the victim is dead. That way there is potentially no living witness and it's easier to deal with being charged with the murder if they are caught than having to pay for hospital and other costs

I'm not defending these people's actions, just trying to explain their motives...

I think we're becoming so desensitized to horror that sometimes we don't even realize what is and isn't real nowadays, that coupled with the class system ((her parents were migrants, and probably wearing shabby clothing), also the woman that actually helped was a "Scavenger")), and the overwhelming population problem in China are what lends to this child being treated like garbage.

I know personally a couple of weeks ago, I saw a migrant from Africa here in Michigan, he was riding a bike, and his child was mixed in with a bunch of trash in a sort of home made rickshaw. The child's head was bouncing up and down and he was asleep (but also could just as well have been dead.) It's bothered me ever since I saw it, but I didn't stop because I really didn't want to be insulting, or have him feel like I was singling him out as an immigrant.

My point is it's easy to say you would stop, but in reality you don't know what you would do in the same situation. We also don't know what the laws are like in a communist country, I wish someone from HK or such would weigh in on this story.

P.S. In case it seems like I think otherwise "Those motorists are Dickheads".

-One driver is caught and the other turned himself in (but I heard the one who turned himself in may just be a paid substitute)

From what I remember reading, she had wandered out the back of her father's hardware store, and her mother had gone off to collect laundry.

i can say that part of the reason as you mention. it hard to be "good Samaritan" anymore, all the facts i dont want to explain anymore. 2 many story you all heard b4.
but one doctor saying about this situation can be changed. when you found someone get accident, you can try stop the other car ran into her again or yell for other people to help. it wl stop the accident became more worse happen.
also, dont try to do treatment or move the injury person. because you may hurt her for more damage. just cover her with a coat on to keep warm & stop the dust touching directly.
anyway, she died & hope she go to God HUG.

I also had the displeasure of watching this at work. I wasn't expecting to see what I saw. It's worse when you have a child of your own. My son is only 4 and when I see fucked up stuff like this it sucks so bad
