 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Supershallow - Wow. I can imagine it was a tough decision for you, as you obviously adore the line. Love the way you have them displayed by the way. I've often thought of how neat it'd be to have a room where the wall space is completely covered in carded figures or comic books. Hope to do so eventually. Yours looks great!
Silver Lining Man - Are you interested in adding a crystal dragon to that shelf (ha, if it'll fit that is)? PM Me.
Kaijuphotobooth - As far as I can remember, I'm pretttty sure his crystals are all intact (unbroken). If SLM doesn't want him & you do, I'll dig him up if you're Seriously interested. Unfortunately 99.9% of my collection is all packed up, and lovingly so, in a plethora of plastic bins while in a transition situation. But I know I have the dragon & his rider, not sure about the accessories... If so, I'll PM you in a few days if I don't hear anything from silver lining man or he passes.

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
@kaijuphotobooth- the shoes are just the aftermath of my purge quite some years ago. despite the amount I only rotate between a couple of pairs. The day I decided to throw the boxes away, was the most freeing experience haha!
@ultrakaiju Sorry for the late reply, like you said the subscription isn't the cheapest because they make you BUY EVERYTHING they release. They charge shipping and tax. The only way to "save" money would've been to buy multiple subs but you'd only save on shipping. But being international would've hurt either way.
@boo velvet Thanks man! It wasn't the easiest decision especially with some of the figures they previewed at SDCC. But I'll say it again, i refused giving in!!!! Mattel trying to gain sympathy and essentially blackmailing folks into keeping this line alive at a premium does not leave a good taste in your mouth and wallet.

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
The giant gumball machine is killer! What a brilliant display. It must've been some beats to move around. A pity these seems to have gone the way of the photo booth. I am afraid to think what would happen if I had one around with the ability to stuff it full of toys (I probably could do a decent job already), but that doesn't mean I don't desperately crave one Very nice.

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Thanks for all the kind comments. The gumball machine is made of fiberglass, wood, metal, and plexiglass. It is a lot lighter than it looks. I have had it 15 years or so. When I got it it had troll prints on the gum balls. They eventually turned rock hard so I tossed them. I have had a variety of things in it over the years. Now it sits in a corner by my front door. I toss all the machine toys that I get from various places in there. Everyone likes to look in it because there are so many little toys mixed in there.
I remember going to the local grocery store in the early 80's. They had a chicken prize egg machine. I think a Flinstones one also. You would put the coins in and the chicken would spin around and make a loud noise. Then your prize would drop down.

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Oh man, nostalgia wave!!! I remember distinctly the 'egg-prize' machines. They had them in Europe, mostly France as I recall, and it was generally a chicken, monkey, or clown that dropped the prize. They cost more than your standard machines, maybe 1 or 2 Marks, but man, those prizes were sublime. Thanks for sharing this, I can't wait to see some pics when it is full.

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
I definitely have strong memories of the Chicken-drop machines, but here in the USofA the prizes were always pretty bunky - bad plush trolls mostly, with the unobtainable tease of a RC car or a "gold" digital wristwatch! Last time I ran into one of those vending cluckers it was at local gem Marvin's Marvelous Mechanical Museum: http://www.pinrepair.com/movies/marvin2.wmv

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Yes so rad. When I was a kid those were the best machines. It was so loud and obnoxious it would drive my older sisters crazy to have to stand by me while I waited for the prize. The only down side was the dreaded out of order sign that would be taped on there sometimes. I wonder where all those machines went?

Ha, I forgot all about those! Everytime I saw one, I had to play! Loved em, meaning Mom hated them

I was a fan of the those sticky hands on a string things. They were great until they got super dirty.

YEARS ago, a quarter machine sticky hand was the 1st gift I gave a girl that I was, to quote the great Greg Brady, diggin in a real far out happenin way. She loved it! Though my van windows didn't. Anyway, we dated for 8years, kudos sticky hand Oh, & Slash kicked assh!

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
One time when I was in elementary school, I stayed home sick with an upset stomach... however when my mom got home from work and told me she was going to the grocery store, the Beavis & Butt-Head stickers in the egg machine flashed in my head and I instantly "felt better".
Shouldn't have had that Ellio's Pizza and Ecto Cooler for lunch. Soon as I walked inside the store, I barfed bright orange all over the floor. Literally did not even make it two steps into the building and just exploded. Looking back, I feel so bad for my mom, haha. Got my Beavis & Butt-Head stickers tho.

^The real question is... did you get more stickers than you would have had you NOT vomited all embarrassing like for your mom?

 Re: Non- Vinyl American toys
Haha. Probably not. Considering my B.U.M. Equipment was plastered in puke, I'd have probably had more time to unload quarters into the machine if we weren't leaving to go directly home to get me out of my filth. That, and we grocery shopped every week together, so it probably could have just waited a few days
