 Re: Black Metal
I was big time into the second wave of BM, dont listen to it much these days. I liked early satirycon and dark funeral the most, nothing too underground. I enjoyed most of the pagan sounding bands, ulver and the first moonspell album and a lot of therion.
I grew up in Mexico, so whatever was making the rounds in the community at the time is what I picked up. In other words, a heavy dosage of immortal and stories about burzumVsmayhem, hating on cradle of filth and being wowed by dissection was pretty much required in those days, hahaha. Im glad I grew up. later years, I found the gutemburg sound and finally settled for opeth and thats about all metal I have these days more or less bands have come and gone for me, but I dont really stop listening to those guys.
This thread was a very fun read, and I got to see a bunch of new bands I never heard of or passed up all those years ago.

 Re: Black Metal
^ I actually kind of do too. I want to recommend a band I just started listening to, Aldaaron from France. Their newest album, Suprême Silence, was recommended to me & I liked what I heard so I ordered that on ebay. I also ordered their first album, Nous Reviendrons Immortels, off ebay. I haven't got Suprême Silence yet, but I have already received Nous Reviendrons Immortels & it's fucking awesome. Ton's of great tremolo picking & melody. Check them out.

Got the latest Burzum a few weeks ago. I still don't know what to make of it. I guess I'd like it more comming out of another band. It's weird.

I also can't wait until Profound Lore releases their 1st album on CD. I know that goes against the norm here, but I'm a CD guy.

 Re: Black Metal
Just got this in the mail today. Great change of pace, it's quite excellent. Not really black metal, but I would say the heaviest influence is black metal. Ton's of great violin throughout, which I am not usually fond of, but it works very well here.

 Re: Black Metal
^^^ When did Godflesh get back together? Anyone else listen to Stargazer? They have an interesting bass sound; kind of overdriven and compressed. It's almost 'jazzy', for lack of a better term. It's also full of zazz.

 Re: Black Metal
^ Stargazer is great, they were supposed to play at Rites of Darkness last year, but due to the fiasco they couldn't make it. I was super bummed about it as they were definitely one of the top acts I wanted to see. New Kawir out later this month. The track they posted on youtube sounds phenomenal. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=y5P_NUiyDWg

Vice's Noisey released the first installment of their One Man Metal video. Seems pretty interesting, covering Leviathan, Striborg, and Xasthur! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UQl6PzXU4cQ

 Re: Black Metal
One Man Metal Part 2 is up! Also, I originally posted this in the Stoner/Doom thread, but I suppose it fits here better: I'm pretty sure I have posted this before, maybe not, but it's so fucking good and I forgot about it until just now -- FALSE - Untitled. Pay $0 and check it out, buy the 12" if you like it as much as I do. They've also got a split with Barghest that I still need to check out myself. Bonus link: Barghest - Untitled LP, name your price. Basically, Gilead Media rules.
