Or go to a forum that wasn't specifically created for a specific niche. What is it about this people fail to grasp? Let me bust out the same tired but perfectly valid point once again. You don't go to a classic rock forum and talk hip-hop, even if it's good hip hop you like. You don't start a thread about your boosted Honda in a classic cars forum. You don't start a beanie babies thread in a Barbie collector forum. Megadeath doesn't belong in a Norwegian black metal forum. It's not about telling you what to like or what is good or even that our toys are better than anyone else's. If you want a forum open to all types of toys, they exist. Why try and turn this into another one of them? Most of us like it the way it is....

I do agree with you but why doesnt this toy fit on these boards? Because its too "platform-y" or too designer? if so, then fine but once again i cant see why it differs from a lot of what s7 does...

Sorry, my ramblings were more directed at why every type of toy is not welcome here and not about whether I feel this toy is outside those walls. Personally this is way too platform for me. My thoughts on S7 MF is that while they are certainly more western than most of what is here their personality is sculpted into the toys. Despite not being as texture heavy they are not designed to be texture free canvases to sculpt and paint on top of (mummy boy and gator are probably the least textured of course). These being here doesn't bother me but they do ride the fence I would say. The only concern I would have is what gets posted next that these become the excuse for. Either way, not up to me. Love life, enjoy toys... Or don't.

Im all for discourse and like to hear peoples thoughts on this kind of stuff. Anyways i see everyone complaints about this toy on these boards, just glad i bumped the thread not started it!

For the record I am not a fan of these at all, but it would be great if this forum had a bumpy ugly section to contain the rage of those who hate smooth sculpts.

I completly understand your position, but be more clear: what belongs here and why does this not?? I think the point made above about the uamou is a great analogy. i dont see a difference between the young gohst, a pocket mummy or a uamou: cute, simple small sculpts in traditional j vinyl that def fall outside of the word "kaiju"

The american idols thread sub heading even reads: "kaws, kozik, le merde...'art toys'"

Does this really need to devolve into personal attacks? I don't think there is anything wrong with discussing what is appropriate for our community here. S7 owns the board, the mods keep an eye on things but it is the people here who make it what it is. Since most everyone seems to agree this is not a place for dumneys, nothing wrong with questioning how close is too close.

Well, I've been lurking these boards way before my account got activated, got to see and get an understanding for what should be ok and not in this community, that and I agree with the whole "Megadeth doesn't belong in a Norwegian Black Metal Forum" because its true. In the same sense people dont talk about dummys here, why should they bring in other producers that just because they are in Asia can get a pass? Doubtful.

I'm active in the CAD forum, and I feel that Ferg has it there so we can all go shoot our crap there about his toys and projects and not go to other boards and try to change those and influence them with our other designers that have their own boards specifically for that purpose.


Also, if there are 20 million of sculpts of godzilla and 30 more of all the variants of zags, it is only because people buy them and cherish the workmanship put into them, which is not something that can be said of a lot of mass-produced, big-toy-store with retail in the biggest cities in the world. Some are attracted to quality and others to design, some like a bit of both, I tend to buy what I like and when I dont like it, I go and tell it at the source or if I do, praise it at the source.

And its not about posting whatever the fuck you want, have manners. Be civilized.

a ton of toys are smooth but they also dont have just a ball for a hand with a tube shaped arm and a pot belly and 0 sculptural details altogether. I guess the ferg toy has sculptural shit in the brain but that's just an accessory as far as I'm concerned. for a toy that is basically a copy of any other platform toy.
some think of s7 MF toys as "designer". I guess they are if you need to call them something. but they sure arent platforms. They are designed by artists that have fully thought out a character that has parts that are specific to that character. rv has leaf arms and feet and a rose head with his own specific face. all fully sculpted out using sofubi sculpting techniques. (eg. how the grooves are done ,the way things are rounded etc.) and while following the "rules" of MF look. not china vinyl looking sculpts at all. I think there is a major difference in the look of western sculpts.
