New tos. Anyone thinking of closing their account? I am interested in the new Flickr app. Apparently great editing and way better tos.

I'm thinking of deleting most of my pics and just keep my account to follow some people I like.

I'll wait until January 16th to see if they backtrack, then I'm deleting and switching to Flickr if they don't.

im no lawyer, but im fairly certain you have some legal grounds to stand on if you post a photo that you own in the first place.

in any case im sure no one is going to by my low res pictures of a sketch i did or some close up of a vintage toy i just bought.

Lame question...I have Flickr on my phone already. Is there a separate app to fill the Instagram void, or this is it?

Update: This is it. Now to find EVERYONE again....ugh.

Re: instagram?

I've tried out the new Flickr and it has lots of potential but definitely doesn't have the same X factor (my crappy definition of a long list of things I can't be fucked talking about) But, it is the first iteration and if they got some better design going on it has many pluses over ig. I did however find a new thing called Pheed. A start up new media app that's gone about it by signing up big stupid stars first (the opposite of how ig started and ended up).
It's free to sign up (which by now should concern most) but is funded by yourself choosing to charge for subscription fees. You can choose free to air so to speak. Unusual I know. But subscribing to watch Paris Hilton private nicker party might be your thing eh. Anyway it explains how the company can turn a buck because they get some sort of commish on subscription fees. Therefore the tos might be a bit fairer in relation to them wanting to
ownz all ur stuffs.

They backtracked pretty quickly. I wonder how many users they lost in, what, 16 hours?

If I use the new flickr app, am I still limited to showing 200 pics?
Actually, I just tried it. Since it is tied to your flickr account and you are not a Pro user, you are limited to display 200 photos. Also, it is the same filters as Instagram (with different names) and switching filters took way too long for me. It averaged 15 seconds on a Galaxy S3. If it's faster on your iOS device, then great. My opinion, it sucks.
The app I linked above, I actually like better than Instagram. The layout is much nicer. It has the same basic filters (if you care about filters). I can use any boarder with any filter, or none at all. It can send to Facebook and Twitter (and a few other social media websites in Asia), but not to flickr or tumblr. It also posts in 1:1, 4:3, or 3:4.
All this crying about Instagram using your photos to make money off of is really not the big issue. The big issue is them using it without asking (this occurs a lot more than people think...and not just from Instagram, although Instagram says it will never do that). I haven't read the TOS but I'm sure there is something in there that covers this. If you are really against people using your property, knowing where you are (because you posted it or the friends you were with tagged you), knowing what you are doing (because you posted it or the friends you were with tagged you) stay off the internet. At least that way you'll never know...until someone shows it to you. ;)

I'll restate what I said to a friend and then on facebook,
People thinking instagram can make money off their crappy filtered photos is what is funny.

Re: instagram?

Well there are services like Instacanvas and others that can print out your instagram pics on small canvases and other products, so there ARE ways to make money on those pics, just sayin. Not that I'm too worried about anyone making money on pics of my toys or kids but it's the principle of the whole thing that bothers me.

Re: instagram?

Wed Dec 19, 2012 6:20 am

My point was no one but the person who took the photo would want anything like that from 99.98% of the photos on instragram. They are low res and suck.
