Re: A Nag Pa I Root The paint job is quite stunning as is the level of attention to detail.
I just miss the original head. The eyes and mouth were a little bit more expressive to me and not as cartoony.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root There's no question a lot of work went in to these. The paint looks very incredible. Though it is hard to say what the colours are exactly, but it looks like a more camo version then the 'camo.' The metallics are at least toned down some from the last ones we saw. Got to say, the acrylic (?) teeth really are probably a hate or it love it type thing, and definitely counteract some of the cuteness in the smaller heads.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root as far as effort....Shigeru painted the last few sets of eyes here. It takes him about 2-hours to paint each eye and insert it.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root looks like the top and back (?) of the head matches the overall body. the eyes not so much. If I had to chose i'd say i like the siamese one better than the two eyed one.

I'd say the main reason is that those new head sculpts are completely devoid of any of the character and charm that the original Genjin & the Four-Eyes possess - but hey, that's just me.
With all this supposed perfectionism and attention to detail, I wonder why Shig started using different and comparatively shitty eyes for the Four-Eyes?

Re: A Nag Pa I Root I have to agree that the new head sculpts don't fit on the original body. This started with the 4 eyes head in my opinion. But is exaggerated on these new versions. There is a much finer texture applied to these heads. Whereas the body has that chunky BG texture.

Re: A Nag Pa I Root A commission from a tabletop artist that does 50 coats on a mini to get a specific look on the figure costs a pretty penny, and with that same mentality you can justify some of the value on these toys. they do look like a lot of work.
Still, I am yet to rationalize buying a toy for an amount of money I dont have. Now, if I had the money to spend on all of this stuff, I would throw it at all those artists and get gazillions of toys and go to shows and buy all of it and go on the bay and just buy it all, but then I'd be somewhat disconnected, I'd be a chump. So I would probably still keep my money, shake my head and hope to win the next PK lottery and find U.S. toys open for once.
I get paying thousands for a vintage Godzilla that has survived the test of time and probably a couple of earthquakes, not for some toy that looks like groundbeef with elmo eyes on it and a very intricate paint scheme.

Like, you know, when you go to Six Flags, and that airbrush dude paints you all goofy like with Looney Tunes characters? Look, if you don't like the new sculpts, flip them! And then Shigeru will get upset and discontinue the sculpt because it wasn't worth his time to spend TWO HOURS PAINTING THE EYES!!! All in all, $850 guys. Eight hundred. And Fifty. Dollars.
