Re: A Nag Pa I Root
I'd rather buy the RFSO shirt than the Nag honestly...new head and paint don't do anything for me

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
At 2pm today I also went by the new SF Mishka store and they still had a bootleg set but said they were only for sale in store. Hope one of you grabs it if that's your thing. The other 3 2-eyed nags went one to a mule who said he was picking it up for an Australian collector who has a toy blog, and the other 2 to two guys that I had never seen or met before who were there together with a girl. Shig came out with Frank at noon and did the cash sale on the street. Shook hands with Shig who gave his signature finger to palm scratch during the shake.
The paint ap on this new 2- eyed Nag sculpt is really intense, and Frank said that Shig had painted the eyes in SF and that each set took about 2 hours. I wish I had taken pictures of the other buyers now, but I was just surprised to be able to buy one without the need for a lottery, considering all the hype/buzz over the sale of 4 at Frank's studio.
Hiro (LilJapan), who works some for Frank, was there handling the translation I believe between Frank and Shig. Hiro had the RFSO shirt. Would have loved to talk to them all more, but after the sale, they went back upstairs. Still, I am very happy to have a release that I could actually score in SF after no lottery luck over the years.

I missed Shig's film Friday night. Can anyone who has seen one describe it?

Side note why has Shig only ever collaborated with American Artists? Something to think about. Add in the fact the Mishka NY and friends have been establishing fake aftermarket prices for years and suddenly the new retail seems reasonable from the outside looking in. (Just as planned!) Anyone want to know one of the reasons for the flood of freshmeats? Hint: Mishka

Re: A Nag Pa I Root
after spending a couple of days with Shigeru and a super fluent japanese/english speaker I have to tell you all your 'conspiracy' theories are totally wrong. Its funny. Shigeru Arai is simply a dude thats totally into old Marusan figures and 'lo brow' illustrators that started in the 80's-90's and which he really likes. There's also a musical element that influences his work, certain bands and songs. Interesting guy. I have seen him be offerred several 'sell out' situations that last couple of days and he is pretty consistently saying no every time. Dude just wants to do his own thing to amuse himself. He's also pretty obsessive about paint apps.

I do (and have done) a ton of pro bono work, thank you. And if you scroll back up I said I think he should use this hype to rip off the suckers throwing down their cash for everything he can while he can. I just wish there were some honesty about it and not this art talk. Frank Kozik wrote: Audiodifficulties: Do you work for free in your profession?

Can I ask why anyone would pay good money for these things?
