Shouldn't that term be reserved for something that's so hard to find that you've been searching high and low for years? I dont know, but just because it's hyped up and expensive doesnt make it a grail, imo at least No offense to you Art Whore, collect what you like. But just saying, you fit the mold so well. A new collector, going straight for the big ticket items, by dropping a huge wad of cash (as your own discretion, i understand), then calling it a grail .

Who had that sig, from someone that said something like "throwing money around doesn't make you a collector, it makes you a chump" or something along those lines? it applies so well sometimes, seasonally that is. EDIT: not necessarily swinging crap at you Art Whore or anyone in particular, but I agree that something like that cant be considered a grail. Much less if its something that it is still in production AND made by money hungry mongrels. Which means there will probably be more.

i suppose it could be considered a grail if you were looking for the chance to own 'any' nag for along time. rather than someone looking for a specific release of a certain toy.

Re: The "What you just got in the Mail" Thread
It is probably just a new thing with people coming to the hobby and not understanding what a 'grail' means. Although you would think it would be obvious, maybe it is not, but in this context, grail refers to the classical sense of a target of a long quest. This generally implies it takes time studying it, effort in hunting down information and tracking it down, and a whole lot of patience. It also has nothing to do with value; some grails can be cheap bubblegum machine toys you have been hunting for decades.
E.G. vintage Bullmark Zarab Seijin = grail NagNagNag released one week ago ≠ grail

Re: The "What you just got in the Mail" Thread
I think with these figures, the real grails are the actual people or individuals who bought the figures. Grails to Shig's, Greg's and Kozik's wallet. I'll admit that I applied to get those figures, but solely with the intention of flipping them to buy Zags (or a couch for my wife, as Scott continues to point out... Ugh )

Re: The "What you just got in the Mail" Thread
couch system would be too hard, too much variance in price and then you have to start talking in fractions...

Re: The "What you just got in the Mail" Thread
well... My two cents, La-z boys do depreciate in value.
If I might add, im pretty sure its the Cheetos stains one tends to leave in them. Now couches, thats a different beast.

That's it guys. Same with the Mishka bootleg. Wanted one of each of em since 2009 or so. Never had a chance caus i live all the way in Australia, and can't afford flipper prices. So both major "grail" pieces for me for sure. DYBBUKIM wrote: I met your friend who picked up the Nag for you in SF. Nice guy. And as a non toy guy, the whole world of Nag i have exposed him to, is, uhhhhh... freaking him out a bit. Scary Andy wrote: One mans 'Grail Mail' is another's 'Mail Fail' . . . all part of the rich tapestry of toy collecting! ...BAM... but remember that for normal people collecting any toy at all is an adult human fail, let alone calling an adult calling any toy a "grail".
