Re: Which Video Games Are You Currently Playing?
Microsoft has a horrid one. It was just bad and a bit inappropriate. Also, the price point is just ridiculous. More and more I feel I made the right move going to PC.

Re: Which Video Games Are You Currently Playing?
I went to the Microsoft briefing and I rather enjoyed it. I'm glad they got all the media and TV talk out of the way during their unveiling last month, that way they can just focus on games at E3. I was however disappointed they didn't address their used games and DRM policies more, as it's been the talk of the town on the internets regarding next gen consoles. There are several exclusives that I was excited for such Ryse, Killer Instinct, Halo and Titanfall. MGS5 & Battlefield 4 looked great as well, but I know those games aren't going to be exclusive to Xbox.
I got a question for the PS3 folks. If you don't have Playstation Plus, can you still play games with online multiplayer?

Yes. I have never been a Plus member but I've played Borderlands 2 with Hiro, a couple NHL games, some Space Marine, and even raced against Lalo (I don't recommend racing him...unless you want to know how bad a driver you are). The only reason I would consider going Plus is for having my saves on the cloud. After my first PS3 died (first gen 60gb), there was no way I was going to go through GT5 license tests again. I can do without the free games that Plus members get. Not sure what else you get as a Plus member but I'm sure you can find it on the interwebz

I see. Only reason I asked cause during Sony's conference I noticed Plus membership is required now to play online on the PS4.

Wow. I wonder how many people are on Plus? On my friend's list, I think there's only about 2 people on Plus. I'll have to dig around for the Press Release notes. Still, I'd probably get a PS4 over the Xbox without having read any Press on what their differences are.

Anyone following E3 conferences ? How do you like it so far ?
Yeah, I followed Sony, MS and yesterday's Nintendo Direct. Not a lot to say really, I know I'm going for Sony hands down (for various reasons, including the used games policy and the Japanese gaming industry — but again I would never go for Xbox, bought once and got rid of it after three RROD, more than enough in my book) and Nintendo was honestly a bit disappointing, Wii U is hardly getting any support except for a handful of Nintendo classics (which look nice but besides Platinum Games there's little to rave about).
(I won't drop huge dime on this toy, but) fuck if I'm not brain washed to like the SVHC version more.

going to break my 3ds joystick playing this when it comes out
also going to playstation route, microsoft bombed everything.
i was a little bummed out that the Last Guardian is STILL on hiatus
Yeah, that Mega Man Super Smash trailer was the best. So freaking awesome. And Wii-Fit Trainer?! Hahaha And I love how they stylized the look for the 3DS release with a cel-shaded. Looks like it'll get some exclusive levels too!
"As is our heritage with Xbox, we designed a system that could take full advantage of advances in technology in order to deliver a breakthrough in game play and entertainment." or you could just design better games and not rely on the crutch that is technology, ask yourself in 40 years will anyone still be playing Halo or Assassin's Creed? It has been 41 years and I think I am gonna go hit up some PONG tonight. Yet again let's dick ride making everything as real looking and BIG as possible, I may be the odd man out but I thought video games were supposed to be a release from reality not an attempt to replace it because an individual wants to curtail the "real" reality of living life.
I'm totally with you. I liked it when games were "games". That's why I look towards the indie guys. They are making "games". Its also why I buy a console. To play games. Its kind of why I have been loving my Nintendo 3DS, and now more interested in the Wii-U, though I'm having flashbacks of Dreamcast (which was my favorite console ever).
Side-rant: Its also why I like art direction. Katamari Damacy, LocoRoco, Parappa the Rapper, Rez, Journey, Ico. To me, these games have been milestones of creativity in gaming. Hell, Its why The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker looks good today as it did the day it was released. And the HD-remake is just going to make it last even further in the test of time. Plus, all those games I mentioned above are all about being a "game". The latest Battlefield 4 looks hella insane, but I would say its borderline a "simulation". Games have become like Hollywood movies. And its hard to take chances with concepts and design. And while I think Assassins Creed 4, Watch Dogs, and the couple of dozens games are visually impressive, that all look the same. That metallic, blue-gray dusty rubble look. Cloudy skies. Boring.
Maybe because I'm getting old and more jaded, but its the "escape" I'm looking for. The mindless fun and entertainment, full of colors. I don't want trophies or achievements. No chores. Just some good levels and a fun time. The Sega days. That Nintendo quality.

Fuck dude, agree x1000, 1 million +1s, etc. I usually say I'm in the minority, because I'm an artist, and want something different and more visually creative. Overall every aspect of "modern popular games" have become more of a simulation type game which doesn't interest me very much. It's disappointing when a game that looks cartoony, stylized, anything non-realistic, generally gets categorized as a kids game. That's not saying kids shouldn't be able to play it, I'd just love to see a wider genre of games having mass appeal. I do believe the future will have a lot of amazing games like this though. Gaming is relatively new and people are really getting into the ideas of where it can go. Is it pure fun, is it telling a story, a simulator, a teaching tool, a coping mechanism.
