Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
LOVE Hirota's fresh take on a stale concept. Instant classic in my book. This beast instantly tramples over all its "competition" ie: the recent rash of 2H's dumped on the market.
Bottom heavy is right, and perfect. Muscle-clad is over-used. That brutal monster is well-fed for sure, and it looks like he's been chomping down those killer omake while locked up in there...
Any more pics from our NYCC attendees?

The fact that it doesn't have sagging man-titties already puts it ahead of the curb.

Wow love both of face and fit so well on the body. Although bemon 2 head is one of my favorite sculpt but I have to admit that this 2 head fit the body more naturally than bemon. Great sculpt from hirota......

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
I think my favorite 2-headed monster as of late has been Splurrt's Cadaver Twins. I'm not really satisfied with this at the moment (could use some more photographs). I'm bothered by the heads. There appears to be a lack of symmetry and some strange proportions-not speaking in regards to the heads being different from each other, speaking in reference to each head individually. It doesn't seem like Hirota. All his previous sculpts scream the work of a perfectionist, down to every last omake. I've never seen any sculpts in person, but from pictures the Mechas all look machine made, it's incredible. This doesn't wow me like those, or any other sculpt he's been responsible for. For me, this is what characterizes Hirota's work and keeps me in awe, along with his clean sprays and use of color harmonies. living dead wrote: OMG, I fxxking hate the two headed crap that is being put out over and over, but did you even bother to look at the detail of this? That is what makes this a must have vs. all the crap out there. Aside from those who were there, I'm not sure anyone else has gotten a good look at the details from a single photo (myself included), one plagued by glare no less. I think what will make this toy a "must have" for most is the fact that it's produced by an overhyped artist, regardless of any details.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
I agree that this is a departure from Hirota-san's usually more stylized approach, but that's exactly the reason I like it. I think the stance and proportions are spot on, this thing looks extremely gnarly. IMO, the sculpt seems much more "alive" and corresponds perfectly with the "Brutal Monsters" image. Plus, gatiio wrote: The fact that it doesn't have sagging man-titties already puts it ahead of the curb.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
I think it looks pretty good, definitely leagues ahead of the other recent entries. It is sad that people have started to look at this two-headed thing as a 'trend' - which I agree it is - it just takes away from the brilliance of an actual great toy who happens to have two heads. My only small gripe with it would be that, unlike the other versions that seem to have far too much neck, this seems to be suffering from none at all. Still looks fine, but I just feel the squat heads right up against the body could be improved by just a slight elevation. That and I would like heads that can rotate more, whereas this one looks like, because they are so close and sculpted with large ears, they are impeding each other. But again, this is something that you would have to sacrifice design aesthetic to achieve, so I can see why it is this way.
Overall, great body and heft of vinyl, with the usual excellence of sculpt one expects from Hirota. Definitely a totally believable and amazing monster; I could easily see him stepping right out of a Harryhausen film.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
Some images from the Pus event case. I had little time to edit them are there is a glare from the glass case display. Also I wasn't getting crazy getting the photos just right, I was to caught up in the moment. The Worm : Devil Man Fink Shit : Hevi : 2 Headed Gorilla : I thought I took more photos, but I guess I didnt. I also wanted to get back shots but it was impossible. The figure has spikes on his arms and back though. Its also a massive figure, maybe 11-12 inches and super chunky. Love it or hate it, decide for yourself. Personally I can live with many 2 headed toys, just like I love cyclops toys. To me, this toy is as close to perfection as you get, just amazing.

Curious if this may be intentional to enable both heads to be used independantly on the OG Gorilla Ju body! That would open up a world of possibilities in the future!

I love almost anything gorilla related and I love 2-headed monsters. So that 2-headed gorilla is amazing to me. I must own one someday!
