Re: The fugliest toys you have seen while collecting.
It hits all the 'shitty' toy marks;
SD limbs, eyes slanted and giving 'attitude', a f@king microphone, sneakers or dunks or whatever the hell those flashy tennis shoes are called(because a beast would totes have sensitive soles) and probably packaging from your favorite "toy designer".
It's so vomitive I cant even take it.

Yeah, I don't understand why they keep on doing mash-ups with Ultrus Bog parts instead of just releasing actual production runs...

it feels as if they went through their kids bucket of toys and just smashed them together. Lulubell is awesome and they do great stuff but they also do some unbelievable crap.

Re: The fugliest toys you have seen while collecting.
I dont like the Grody toys or mash ups, but I do have to commend Luke for looking for ways to reuse the leftovers he has. That helps twofold.
1. Keeps the waste lower for an industry that is already hurtful to the environment. 2. helps him maximize his profit out of his products

wow. It actually sort of oddly saddens me to see this. I like Mark's art and some toys but this is just dumb.

Why do some of these sculpts look so lazy and half assed?

Re: The fugliest toys you have seen while collecting.
Because some people see the exceptional crude sculpts people like to collect and wrongly assume they must like sloppy childish sculpting. Much like those that claim they could paint a Miró because it seems so simple to them.

Re: The fugliest toys you have seen while collecting.
Well I certainly think some folks take the talent and practice good sculpting requires too lightly and they seem to think you can just mush out something people will like. The best sculptors might make it look easy but you know how that goes. I wouldn't call the Bemon Kougai sloppy but I can see how an outsider might not get what is so great about it or think it easy to do such work.

Ahhh now I understand what you mean. Yes sculpting has got to be one of the toughest aspects in the creation of vinyl.

yet they still sell out. gotta love 'beet'niks: such refined taste, and money to burn.
"get that money scott" is the new "how many jordans, yo".

Re: The fugliest toys you have seen while collecting.
Sorry, but that is pretty much exactly like every other Deadbeet just with longer arms. So you are saying the toy is just excellent normally, but now somehow this one looks like a piece of crap? Well okay then....

Re: The fugliest toys you have seen while collecting.
I think the punchline behind the arms and the name is pretty funny. I like how Luke painted the eyes, too. Though I don't have an actual opinion on the toy itself, I don't understand the hatred the Deadbeet gets. It's kinda just there to me.
EDIT: Reading through the Deadbeet thread more thoroughly and a boardie kind enough to give me a little more insight, I get the gripe about it now. Even still, I still think this custom and its reason behind the name is funny as hell.

Re: The fugliest toys you have seen while collecting.
He does a lot of custom maxtoy stuff, mark & him obviously have some sort of a relationship. He was even involved in the recent custom offerings at One-up (i think it was tere...) I do not get it at all: the custom toy work is mediocre and his print work is literally a mexican bootleg of tokidoki... *sigh
