 Re: Godzilla (2014)
I like the short muzzle a lot. Og Godzillas head looked like a cheeseburger. he didn't get a long muzzle till the later years. And maybe its because I'm a fatty but I love how robust he looks. Hes GIGANTIC, He would need to be crazy stocky to support himself. Think about elephants and Brontosaurus. Big body = Big body mass index

 Re: Godzilla (2014)
So did anyone see this, and what are their thoughts? Brazilian Fan Uncovers the Face of Legendary’s Godzilla I can't comment on the accuracy, and this is all still speculative, but it isn't impressing me much. I have to say that it is exactly what I thought/think an American studio would typically do with a 're-booted' Godzilla, and that is just not something that appeals much to me. But it is the kind of thing that will sell tickets, and sad as it may be, the Showa fanbase might actually be dwindling to a minority now, where the new hep kids think guys in rubber suits are cheesy and dumb. Speaking purely from an aesthetic standpoint, there is still something I find off about this concept sculpt. I think a lot of it is in the teeth - I don't see at all the point of mismatched and misaligned sizes [nor is this something that is reflected in nature] - and the extra 'ridges' and whatnot such as on the cheek-to-neck area, just don't seem to jive for me. I understand the purpose is to make this a pumped up, more ferocious looking Godzilla, but really, it all just looks too contrived. Still, I know I will never be pleased. There are some nice things about it too, don't get me wrong. And of course there are significant improvements over the '98 version, but really, that is a low rung to step above. It is an interesting take, and anything Godzilla is worth noting. I still hold reservations on the body proportions though, that remains my biggest concern.

 Re: Godzilla (2014)
The image appears to have been deleted before I had a chance to see it, bummer. Legendary is really keeping the wraps on as much about the film as they can. As for anomalies of proportion, animal locomotion, or dentistry, let's not forget that Godzilla is literally a monster, a mutant, a product of the damage that radiation does to life. He's not a creature that evolved along a normal evolutionary timeline. I loved that the engineers of the creatures in Pacific Rim did a great job of attempting to "naturalize" muscle movement and physics, but think Gojira-san deserves wide berth when it comes to suspension of disbelief. Was the since-deleted image a larger version of this one?

Yep, that was the one Dean. Weird it was removed, as I have since seen it on a few other sites. And yeah, I agree, I do give some leeway to the old fella when it comes to 'mutations' and what not. I was being picky, I admit. I am just stuck on my ways - that is old news.

 Re: Godzilla (2014)
Looks like Goji's headshot is getting some positive reactions from fans in Japan too (though I am sure this is a much younger section of the fanbase). Here are some quotes taken from the popular 2ch discussion site (translations according to Kotaku): Quote: Who is this handsome hunk?
The heck, I'm crying.
Hollywood's making another Godzilla? Does this sell abroad?
This is the first Godzilla I've seen with sorrowful eyes.
So, they're making him a good guy.
The art is done in Showa Era style.
This is better than whenever they made Godzilla into a total dinosaur.
Is this better than an iguana?
He's terribly handsome.
There's something gloomy... Like, "I don't really want to do this."
Looks tough.
It's a somewhat human-looking Godzilla. lol
Godzilla? More like Gorilla, am I right?
I hope they make this like Pacific Rim. Originals hereSo all in all, doesn't look too bad. I think the reference to dinosaur and iguana might be the terrible 1998 Goji, which we can all agree this is better than.

Much better than the 98 travesty....I mean I was 6, and still knew that movie was garbage.

I saw the first trailer here: http://www.theverge.com/2013/10/4/48028 ... er-footageI tried looking for it on YouTube, but everything legitimate has been taken down by Warner Bros.

 Re: Godzilla (2014)
Fantastic. Looks like it's going to have more the look and feel of "Monsters" than of any prior Goji films or the '98 atrocity. Not everyone is going to like this approach but given the age of the mythos I'm glad something new and original is being done with it.

And it seemed as if some type of "defeated" foe lay to rest inside a volcano or some sort in the middle of the trailer? The audio quote of Oppenheimer added quite a bit for me, as well.

I'm really looking forward to this movie. I like the look of the new Godzilla, what I've seen anyway. Plus it comes out near my birthday.

 Re: Godzilla (2014)
Not sure if this is the trailer previously deleted at Vimeo, but it's officially out, now. http://bit.ly/1cyXx6aSo. Excited. Nice use of György Ligeti's "Requiem" à la "2001."

I don't want to get my hopes up, but it looks promising! Dug the roar and the profile of the head.
Not remotely necessary, but was that Walter White as well?

 Re: Godzilla (2014)
I know the current trailer only shows small vignettes of the story, but I still picked up more of a feeling towards Gareth's "Monsters" than say "Pacific Rim".
Did anyone else get that from the trailer?
I'm so glad that they put him in the director's seat.
