Re: Stoner/Doom
I can't say I feel they've sunk or declined, I like it about as much. I think, much like Vol. 1 and Bloodlust, for different attributes.
Mind Crawler and Devil's Work are the stand outs to me. I think the only track I've only listened to once was Follow the Leader. Not that it's bad I just didn't really get into it.
It's not as directly dark as Bloodlust, but neither was Vol. 1 which seemed more psychedelic to me. Overall I don't feel let down at all.
What do you think, guys? After a few listens, it doesn't really grab me like Volume 1 or Blood Lust did but I like what they've done to change it up too.
I like it as much as the others. This is probably one of my favorite new releases. Heavy psych direction which is a nice change of pace for me.
Listened to Mind Control quite a bit this week. It's a good album, but it doesn't grab me the way Blood Lust or even Vol. 1 did. So in comparison, it's weak. That first song on BL just grabs a hold of you and doesn't let go - there isn't anything on MC that can compare. Though I think I like "Follow The Leader" the best - that churning, droning, fuzzed guitar with the hypnotic tambourine and airy vocals and psychedelic plectruming sounds really nice. As always, it's entirely possible that the album will grow on me over time.

Ha! Just went back to read other opinions on the album - interesting that my initial favorite is your least favorite. I'm going back now to listen to your two favorites...

Ha yeah, my Uncle Acid experience is different, almost opposite, so maybe it explains the difference in taste. Vol. 1 grabbed me MUCH more than Bloodlust. I love Bloodlust but wasn't as into it as I was Vol. 1 when I first listened to it. So to me, Mind Control is just on par with it. But I can see the other side. Mind Control overall isn't as striking an album. I think it's one that'll grow on people more over time.
Death Valley Blues has also crept into heavy rotation off of it for me.

Beer, bong rips and loud stoner rock. I can't think of a better combination. Well, unless a pretty lady were to be involved in said activities. And pizza. Always pizza.

Saw bansheebot has already mentioned these guys in another music thread - I think Heavy Lord from Russia are seriously underrated, their album 'From Cosmos to Chaos' is amazing

Why have I never been to Roadburn.
I ask myself that every year, then I answer myself "because you can't afford to "
