The first is that despite it being sent EMS, customs held it for 10 days. The feet look like separate pieces, so it's possible that a customs officer tried to remove the leg to see if there were any no-no materials inside. The other idea is typical USPS carelessness. It was sent in an EMS bag (but wrapped in bubble tape), not a box, so it was susceptible to damage along the way.
