So..I've been wanting to switch careers and get onto the railroad as a Conductor for a commuter rail in the DC region. its been a dream of mine to work on the RR.

They've always been about some "you can never work here unless you've worked on the RR before..."

Times are changing...they won a huge contract in Boston and that recruiter will be asking if anyone wants to move there for the job.

I've been talking to a guy who is a conductor and told me recently they ARE hiring people w/o RR exp. I typed a great cover letter and highlighted all of my safety exp from working Loss Prevention at Tower Records/Video. Safety was a big part of the job.

I know a guy who works CSX RR as a track inspector. He's a friend from high school. I added him to my cover letter as a reference with his RR #. (This WILL get me a look and hopefully an interview..)

So...onto my fuck you.

Last night on the train home, this one asshole conductor named Wayne was talking to a ''train friend'' i've become friends with. nice gal named Lachonne... She said just out of the blue..."you know he wants to be a Conductor.."

To which Wayne replies, "Pfft..THAT'LL NEVER HAPPEN..."

I started to slink away and walk to go sit down..and he went to open the doors at a stop.

She didnt catch what he said to me...but I did and told her. She could see the impact it had, just from the look on my face.

I heard from the manager this week, that he got my res, cover letter and recent Employee of the Quarter for the Govt contracting firm I work for - for outstanding Customer Service. He thanked me and said it was going in his "Personal folder.." I thanked him and added I hoped to hear from him in the future..He wrote RIGHT BACK and told me I was Welcome.

There is a new line that will be finished soon near where I live...I hope I get the chance to interview because I know Im going to sell myself.
