After all these years that glow Transforming Man is still a favorite in my collection. Nice pick up Ian.

Such a great sculpt...

I was never all that hot for the regular (Vinyl Paradise) Marmit Matango, but this transforming dude is tops.

Post Re: Random reasons why Marmit Rules
Is it okay to ask questions about Marmit versions here?

I have a lot of questions about the Marmit cryptids. Curious to know :

Green Martian - was it ever produced? I know they did a regular bronzy-gold version and a glittery gold version, but the website shows a fairly recent (should have been out fall list year) glowy green martian. But I cannot find pics that are not stock pics or any reference to anyone actually having one anywhere.

Kappa - how many versions of this? Website shows one, dark green. But I have seen a glow version and also a pic here on skullbrain that is a similar dark green, but glittery. Not sure if it is the regular one or not.

Hopkinsville Alien - I have seen the unpainted glow, but never the green one pictured on the marmit site. Was it produced?

Grey Alien - website shows an unpainted glow version. Is this the only one?

Mothman - are there just 3 versions (black, brown, green)?

Flatwoods Monster - I know there is one coming out soon, but how many were produced before (not counting customs)? Website shows three in archives, but I have seen at least five or six in pics on the web.

and, lastly,

Triffids - I see three on the website, one that is reddish, one greenish, and one that is blackish. But I own a glittery green version. Wondering if this is the one on the website and if the stock pics are not exactly how they look when they come out sometimes.

Any help appreciated.....

If it is on the Marmit website, it was produced. Generally, Marmit's website is pretty complete from 2006 and on.

There is an older one (pre-website) that is also unpainted GID (well, the eyes were painted). Not sure whether the two sculpts are different.

That sounds about right.

malinablue wrote:

The other two are probably the full-color and GID versions that were produced before Marmit started cataloging its releases on its website. The oldest one on Marmit's website is the clear version from 2006.

I also have an unpainted GID Marmit Flatwoods, but I think this was a test shot of the GID version and not an actual production version.

For customs, I can only recall one, which was the custom done for Toy Karma 2 by Marmit's owner, Akamatsu-san. Were there any others?

^^ The top one is pretty cool . . . . it would be interesting to see it with a more vibrant colorway.
Not sure if the standard Marmit dark-paint works on that cute-ish sculpt.

I think Hide Behind was one of the best toys to debut in 2013.

Post Re: Random reasons why Marmit Rules
Just noticed that Amazon itself (and not marketplace sellers) has preorders for some Marmit.

Karz Works Taily-Po:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDAWJSK/

Dai Matsutake-Shisho:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDAWISG/

Space Kaiju Chamegon:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDAWIJA/

and Booska:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDAWIJU/

Kind of surprised me, as I did not know Amazon sold anything like this directly (all of them say SHIPS FROM AND SOLD BY AMAZON, which means it is amazon directly and not a secondary seller). I found them by accident when I stumbled upon their listing for Longneck's Yusei Majin Crescent moon guy. Also surprising to me:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B00IDAWJTY/

Post Re: Random reasons why Marmit Rules
I like the Frankensteins and wish I idid have them. So far, I am aware of two versions, but I am far, far from an expert here.

Another basic marmit question: What is the relationship of Marmit and Medicom? Sometimes I see one and sometimes the other on items I am looking for. Is Marmit the one who produces them and Medicom distributes?

I must say, I find myself confused as hell at times with all the various companies and artists. And then they collaborate left and right (which is great) and I am even more confused. Case in point - ZOLLMEN. I assumed this was a specific company or artist, but when I go on ebay half the stuff there says ZOLLMEN, so I really have no idea anymore.

Post Re: Random reasons why Marmit Rules
Marmit use to produce and distribute themselves. But now Marmit produces and Medicom's roll for them is now their official distributor. That changed was announced by Akamatsu-san late last year. But he had actually stopped doing any distribution directly from Marmit back in August 2013.

Post Re: Random reasons why Marmit Rules
Has anyone here actually bought the Marmit Sadako Yamamura figure (the ghost from The Ring)? I am contemplating buying her since she is based on folklore ( an onryo - a Japanese ghost (yurei) trapped in this world by a desire for vengeance). But the complete lack of a face kinda creeps me out a bit too much. But then I saw a pic of her that suggested she does have a face under that hair (it looked like the hair had some transparency to it and you could see the face in in obscured way through it). Wondering if any of you know for sure?

^ I have it. Pretty sure you can't see the face at all. I was actually very bummed the hair wasn't "real" but sculpted on.

I'll have to think on it then. She is being sold direct by amazon for $69 (not a secondary or marketplace seller) , and I know if I don't buy her now and want her later she will be twice the price and impossible to find. I might just have to order her and see. At least they have incredibly easy returns if she does scare me too much.

Wonder when that new Marmit Flatwoods will come out? I hope Amazon will list her too. Considering how utterly impossible the former flatwoods monsters are to find (so far, I have found nada and the same with the mothman), I don't want to miss that one.

Sorry for the terrible photos, but I just came across these at a local shop and thought I'd post them in case anyone has been looking for any of these.

Let me know and I can pick them up for you, they were all priced around $35 I believe.

(sorry if this is the wrong place for this type of post, wasn't sure where would be better)

Gorgeous! Is that from the M-Pop series? And does his head come off with the little robot brain underneath?
