Yeah, that is not cool at all. Sorry to hear that G. I mean, usually I don't mind conditional issues with my toys for the most part, but a think the vast majority of people on here would, as this is essentially a collectors market, and condition is a significant factor, as in ANY collectible. To not disclose it is really shitty - and something that goes with honesty in any kind of sales transaction - and to further not accept responsibility and try to make it up somehow is worse. Yes, toys get rubbed, it is a fact of life, but ffs be clear about that shit beforehand, so people know what they are getting into. There is nothing like that disappointment of finally getting a toy you have been hunting for only to have it arrive as something else/unadvertised. Very, very uncool.

^ If you think paint rubs on toys are bad try records. Nothing worse than getting an older record advertised as VG+ or NM only to arrive with scratches and skips. I can deal with a small toy paint rub more than a skip

New toys that get scratched or have rubs are a mystery to me. Not saying it doesn't happen, but unlike vintage toys (which were played with in the 60-70's) these things are strictly made for collectors. How do people fuck them up already?

^I've just kind of accepted it at this point even though it pisses me off. 30-40% of the time I find small rubs on brand new toys, even straight from the maker. I guess perfection is hard to come by, but minute rubs on new toys annoy the everliving fuck out of me.

I thought the whole point of using sealant was to stop rubs? At least on brand new toys, obviously they are roughly mishandled anything with scratch

My "new" toys have some rubs... My Zag in particular. It's my own fault because I take him with me on trips and take stupid photos along the way. The paint on the tips of his fingers are getting rubbed off, but hey, it's not like I'm going to sell him. He's with me for the long haul.

I see this taxi driving between both lanes on the highway today so I make my move & get the fuck away from him. I take the next exit & while I am waiting at a red light, I see him coming up behind me... aww man, not this fucking guy again! I am looking at him in my rear view mirror, his head is down & he isn't stopping. There are cars all around, I can't move & he plows into the back of my FIAT.



I get out and scream at him for being an awful driver. He pleads with me not to report the accident (!!!) because he has a small child at home. I let him know I was calling the cops & snapped a photo in case he tried to drive off. I am ok physically but I am absolutely seething at this guy, a professional driver, being so careless & then trying to talk his way out of it like I should feel bad for him! Fuck you taxi driver, if you weren't lying about having a son I sincerely hope someone else teaches him how to drive & I wish you the best of luck finding another job that doesn't put you in the cockpit of a 2,000+ pound cruise missile since looking where you are fucking going is too hard for you.

I'm no right wing super patriot but I really don't know how foreigners get licenses (and taxi licenses to boot) so quickly upon entering the US. I hate stereotypes and generalizing but it seems especially true with cab drivers. I'm sorry I've been on enough highways in Buffalo which lead out to the airport and most colleges to know that is a deadly combo. Btw these guys and the college kids constantly on their phones while driving you really have to watch out. Poor driving skills and phones- it's a no wonder we don't have Chips style pile ups every day.

I'm totally for making getting licenses harder and mandatory retesting after age 60. While the former will never happen (think state revenue), the latter might (again think state revenue).

Fuck Petsmart for selling me an aggressive fish and not warning me about it. Second time this has happened. First time it was an African frog, was told they're "super docile and shy"... Nope, it attacked my little cory catfish, raked its claws against its side, and killed it.
This time they sell me a dwarf gourami, tell me it's "a great centerpiece for a tank, very docile if you don't have another gourami"... It literally rips the face off of my cory catfish and the poor thing dies 7 hours later.

What the hell, Petsmart. Either stop lying to me, or stop pretending like you know shit. You keep killing my favorite fish.

I think like anything else, you are better off not going to a big box chain when looking for expertise. After the first issue I probably would have blacklisted them... sorry for your loss.

I'm so sorry to hear that H.I. I used to work there years ago, but left after five years of BS capped by them initiating policies that made it harder to care for the animals plus getting passed over for a very basic promotion.

I think my local Petsmarts have run off any employees that gave a shit about pet care.



P.S. - Cories are the best! There are a couple of varieties of "giant" cories available (they get about 4 inches long usually), or you can keep the little guys in schools. They tend to play around a lot more in groups. Plus they fart.

Giant farting cories? I'm sold! But seriously, I love cories. Such comical little fish and they do a great job finishing off any flakes that make it to the bottom of the tank. The one the gourami killed was a green cory that I had for about a year, really grew attached to him.
Guess it's time to look into local aquarium shops, not sure if I want to test my luck with Petsmart again.

SDCC is absolutely lame regardless. Everything you want can be found after or even during the con. You have to dredge through a sea of fat, sweaty goons just to get to a table usually filled with fat, sweaty goons who are ill-tempered thinking they've created the hottest piece of shit ever known to man. The only pleasure I get from SDCC are the free tix I get every year and then never use because a day at the beach is ALWAYS paramount to this slovenly, pedestrian affair

I've never understood the appeal of SDCC. Just looks like a hot mess you pay shitloads of cash to be in! Then again I'm not much on crowds and you won't find vintage toys there

And now with so much coverage of the event I can enjoy the perks virtually anyway. I"d much rather go to a small gallery opening.

I've been to SDCC nearly 30 years in a row, and while toys are the main reason I attend, it is also tradition now amongst the homies to gather and party before, during, and after the show. It also brings the opportunity to meet legends of the craft . Folks like Mike Mignola, Ray Bradbury, Stan Lee, Sergio Aragones, Kevin O'Neil, Grant Morrison, and Bernie Wrightson are just a few names that pop into the noggin for which I am thrilled to have met.

I also bumped into Kerry King from Slayer, watched Tenacious D play, and shared an elevator ride with Glen Danzig. I find it fun to just take a break, munch down a slice of pizza, and watch all the cosplay geeks walk around.

Most importantly, it is a 4 day weekend right in the middle of summer, which is my busiest time of the year.

That being said, FUCK YOU SDCC for putting up badge sales at the exact same time the doors open for Dcon !
