Hey Folks.
Yeah, so in true self-promotional spirit, I'm taking the plunge and sharing this info here.
I've been working with Marmit on a series of Ultra Kaiju. Sofubi. Around 5 inches each. Sculpts, wax, paint - it's my doing. Licensing is managed by the ever awesome Akamatsu-san.
So far I've got Jamira and Aboras in production - with two new fellahs to join the line-up in May, and 2 more later this year.
I'm guessing a fair number of you have seen these, but maybe I'm wrong.

Saw these. I was wondering how/what was the collab with Marmit on this?!
Awesome stuff! Love your take on Aboras!

love the texture on the Jamira

Love the Jamira! The way it really looks like a guy in a suit!
I've had my eyes on them for a little while now.. Stars just haven't aligned to pick one up yet.
Great work!

I really really really enjoy this line. I am the type to usually buy only one of a figure, in which ever color way I think is the best, and so far all of Jamiras have had amazing colors! I own the latest, flesh and purple one, and the whole figure is phenomenal all around, sculpt, color choice, design, it's all there. I am excited to see what colors will come for the Abora!

Wow, what a great take on Pigmon Jon! You really capture so much expression in the little fella, that is some fantastic sculpting work. And your painting is top notch too. I really dig him. He looks a little like he is channeling some Maurice Sendak there.
And the balloon too, what a nice touch. Really excited to see your Ultra series coming along like this. Keep up the excellent work.

Both the Red King and Pigmon are superb! I'm getting a Tim Burton vibe especially from Pigmon rotten teeth bulging eyes and all. Wicked!

Thanks people!
There are a certain few kaiju that I really have been excited to produce - Jamira and Pigumon being at the top of the list! My goal here is to make the characters, but with a focus on how I see their attitude - shown through their stance and facial expression. Seems to be working out so far!

Hey Folks - since none of this is currently relevant in my webshop, figured I'd share.
Recent (Wonfes and afterwards on-line) newcomers to the series:
And, just test painted one of these today - approval form submitted, and hoping for April (a significant delay, but the mold maker is getting a bit slower these days!)

I really like the expressive faces you bring to these,
very cool. Would love to see your take on Namegon!
Do you sculpt directly on from wax?
Tue Mar 01, 2016 8:14 am
I do about 60 percent of the overall sculpting in clay, and the rest happens in the wax. Doing it all in the clay just sets you up for failure when you try to convert to wax (I think!).
