Well, at least the "winner" won't be flipping it anytime too soon! Yikes, that's crazy money for an absolutely beautiful toy.

If someone is crazy enough to pay it, then more power to them...I'm just glad they raised a bunch of cash for the HxS Factory upgrade. Super excited to see what's next.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
It's a great figure but this is a bit much.. What other vinyl toys out there have gone for almost $10,000? Even a lot of vintage stuff doesn't go for a crazy price like that!
If it was advertised as an auction to help raise $$$ for a new studio setup then I can understand somebody helping out and getting a cool toy out of it.. but didn't he build a new studio/vinyl factory about a year ago?

If it means better production and more releases I say have at it.
HxS is hard to come by, this might make after market not a complete clusterfuck

You guys do realize his runs have increased over the years, from initial 30 and under to runs in the 40's and 50's. Aside from that, I'm sure we'll see more tees, posters, pins; badges, stickers, etc etc which is always great.
Grats to whoever picked up the auction.

Christ that's a lot of money. But respect to the person who bought it because being able to get big handfuls of cash every once in a while probably allows him to keep his toys under 20k yen, which is pretty remarkable considering their desirability - he could easily raise it to 30k+ and no one would bat an eye.

For $10,000.00 I'd say a t shirt and a few extras are a little appreciated.

I'd be curious if that sale price holds over say 5-10 years. Total waste of $ IMO but whatever. Other earlier painted sculpts were much more interesting to me.

The two headed Gorilla, and the Itamu are both awesome designs, but I'd love to see new releases of the first Mecha Gorilla. Wonder if we'll ever see more of that sculpt.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
I still don't get why people like that dripping wax marbled look. Looks really bad, and Pushead- yeah makes it worse. Whoever bought it obviously wasn't thinking straight and bought into the hype. Give me your Gorilla Ju. I'll pour wax all over it, splash paint ala Jackson Pollack and call it 'art' Also while we're talking in general (I know this auction wasn't two heads)- ENOUGH of the two headed thing. So absolutely beaten to death. Ahh so liberating to speak your mind when you have no fear of being denied a hype toy- because you basically do not care. This whole line has gone to shit IMO.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
I always wondered about exactly how much the colors in the pour can be controlled. Seems like most poured vinyl coloring is left to fate, but this Pushead one is far too symmetrical and multi-colored for that to be the case. I usually don't care much for unpainted toys, but this one is different. I think it's beautiful--just not for that price!

Wow Ian, beautiful photo! What an amazing simian family you collected there. In my eternal disappointment at the availability of these toys, I had not even realised that there were that many small fellas released. Really lovely toys.
