Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
Anyone know what was pricing on the Pushead drawings were? The whole deal of buying popular toys is similar to the way streetwear companies push their brand. The process is to accumulate more wealth. Ouch..............

The whole HxS line has really gone downhill with Pushead's involvement IMO. Yeah oh boy I want toys that look like a hippie cave ornament with candle wax dripped all over them, and while we're at it make them look like zombies extras from the Heavy Metal anime WW II plane scene. Pfff the sculpts were excellent why give them to Pushead to ruin.

Year35 Video, thanks to all who attended and thanks to Pus for hosting an amazing event. http://youtu.be/8pQAWOCofXoor, is it the theme song for what this thread has become...

At least it took a while before it started resembling those Dustman-patchi threads.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
Please allow me to clarify a few things: What some of you guys may not understand is that this was a private event for a reason. It was a celebration for Pushead's 35 years working as an artist, hence the 'Year35' tag, he invited friends and longtime collectors to celebrate it with him. Practically everything there was a one-off, or low-run, exclusive to the event as a thank you to his longtime fans. That is, in fact keeping with with his hardcore roots. Sure, some people with fat wallets came out with more stuff, but when do they not? There were dozens of people that had very little money (I was one of the broke few) and still came out with spectacular stuff, especially considering that 95% of the figures that were sold at the event were one-offs, yet they were priced like regular production runs. If it was all about the $$$, then they could've gouged the hell out of us with the pricing and we'd still happily pay it. Also, why are most of you assuming that the fat wallet people are newbies, who just got invited because they throw money around? Most of the high rollers there were actually Pushead fans long before he even entered the toy scene. Just because you don't know these collectors, doesn't mean they are new...they just don't post here on SB. They don't need to. If you are pissed that an artist put together a special private event and made some special things for his longtime fans, then I guess the next time you throw a birthday party with your friends and family, it'll be okay if I come over and start eating your birthday cake, right?

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
So would you rather not know something existed at all? Personally when it comes to Pus, hey you aren't going to be a completist. I personally, would rather at least be able to see what is out there. It's cool to see what is out there, even if you can't put your hands on it. SB has been rather sad lately... There has been far to many people that are up tight, and feel they have some sense of entitlement to a piece of plastic.... A PIECE OF PLASTIC! ... Believe me if you are feeling some type of way when you don't get a certain toy, miss a release, aren't picked for a raffle etc... then you seriously need to take not one, but 2 steps back, and re-evaluate your priorities in life. I figured some would of taken from the photos posted... WHOA Marbled Itamu's... Some might of even went NEW HIROTA SCULPTS! I hope to score one one day... and some of those who over analyze everything... might have been like WHATS THAT ON THE SHIRT!... instead a few in here are fucking kicking rocks in a circle. humble yourselves... its just plastic. Pus was celebrating a very impressive milestone of his career that is still going. He invited close friends/fans.

Vinyl Skin wrote: Eckotyper nailed it and I couldn't agree more! I'm gonna second this notion. Admittedly, I get somewhat salty when I see collectors who obviously have deep pockets come up on every single release just 'cause they have monies. But their financial means are none of my business, and realistically I'm just being a cunt in that moment. Also admittedly, I get bummed when I miss a release or don't come up on a lotto/online sale. But I have my moment and move on, 'cause they'll come up eventually. I've never been legitimately upset because I didn't fill an empty shelf space. Allow me to share this image from Mean Girls(big fan) that reminds me of people who do get angry and put off the notion that they somehow deserved it/them over other collectors:

Too funny - I just reread it last month, too.
Okay, back to bitterness and redemption. Or, better yet, coverage of new releases.

That sounds like a fun event to attend. Selling one-offs at production run prices is pretty damn cool. Hooking up close friends and the collectors who have supported you from the beginning is one of the most satisfying parts of making art/toys. Being able to do it in person at a party like that would be amazing. Thanks for clearing up some of the misconceptions here.
