Was he pointing out the new title cover or the cellphone case?
I'm not a fan of the vanity license plates or shit like this some collectors are doing.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
Didn't mean to cause a ruckus. My bad. Was just sharing although everyone's got this link in their favorites, probably. I thought it was interesting. The custom cellphone case was a cool idea, regardless of whether it's for his own personal use or some other release, though I'd imagine it's personal since there's so many different phone types out there. It's nicer than most crap cases your see around, but that's a matter of taste. (I'd rather a different toy if I had a custom case, but that's off-topic.) I honestly didn't notice the cover pic at first since I scrolled to the latest blog entry. It is cool though.

Probably asked and answered before but does Hirota sell internationally?

Notsureifserious, but yes, of course, if you are lucky enough to win an auction from Hirota-san, he has no problem at all with international buyers - something in evidence by the majority of posts from winners on this board I would even venture to say. He has repeatedly posted 'warnings' for a few years now in his lottery info, concerning 'foreign' buyers flipping his stuff, but that is only directed at a certain audience, and not because the buyers are outside Japan.

Thank you. Yes I was serious. No matter how long we all play at this there is always some artist that we are not yet familiar with in some way or other.

You don't have to be familiar with all artists but if you can push the back button and read threads they help tremendously. And that's not sarcasm.

Congratulations Ben, I think you just found the perfect SB suited gif.
Man, this thread really has devolved to the new Nag one. At least that one is dead, but that doesn't really mean we need a replacement.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
Yo, 3 things because I don't get to post as much as I used to.
1. Lixx- you still sit on your high horse about SB. If need be I still have the screencap from when you posted on Kid Robot and called sofubi "toys look like cheap japanese toys you'd get out of the vending machine in the 70's" and how you "didn't get it" because " I mean alot of them are just bagged in a plastic bag with a label stapled on top". Nothing has changed. You still sit and complain. What's new?
2. The first post I ever read on Skullbrain in late 2005/early 2006 was about "how much it sucked now" by another guy who did the same. I haven't seen him post here in awhile though, and as much as I have issues with Lixx, at least he collects. This other dude did nothing but talk shit on everything and make his shitty resin toys. Skullbrain is like the hardcore scene(sorry for those who have no frame of reference). When you first get in, it's great! Everything is new and exciting. You make new friends and learn a vast wealth of knowledge. There, of course, are a couple of older guys who are there and telling you hardcore died already. It hasn't, they just don't get what they want from it anymore and that's ok too. Yet there they are, at every show, talking to their friends. My advice is to handle it the way I did when I was 18. Punch those fuckers right in the face and send them home. and if that isn't possible. Just block and hide them.
3. HS still rules. Pushead still rules. That header is fucking awesome. What's up all you old farts that I still love and hello to you fresh meat with the mediocre collections. I miss all of you. Almost all of you.

Re: Hirota Saigansho: Gorilla-ju, Mecha Gorilla-ju, & Tyrann
bannedindc, I always appreciate your take on things here, it provides a nice counterbalance. But there are those of us who could give two shits about the "scene"...conflating participation on Skullbrain with a music scene and the social/cultural identifiers that such a scene confers just doesn't apply to some folks here. I participate in this community, and try to be a decent member that contributes, and I am sure I piss some folks off. But I'm really not looking for acceptance or a " scene" to be part of. I just really fucking love toys. Period. It's all about the toys. I am over a thousand miles from any regularly sanctioned toy culture. If I make some like- minded friends on the journey here, all the better. Okay I am sick of reading my own worthless walls of text... Bye.

I'm not saying you have to be a part nor do I care about the toy "scene" either . I'm simply comparing the enthusiasm that one enters with and how you're met with skepticism immediately. But yes of course It won't apply to everybody here. I have met a few people who have literally been lurking for 7 years. They have no interest in skullbrain nor the politics, yet they are hardcore collectors. I've also met lots of skullbrainers who love toys and just don't have the money to collect like they used to. It seems to me that the people who consistently tell me how much they "don't want to be in the scene" are the ones who post the most drama. walls of text as you put it.

I gotcha. I agree with that. SB can be whatever you want it to be ultimately.
One thing we can all agree on is that it is a complete and utter time sink!
