Re: Target Earth
You're right Ultra. I'll offer my apologies for such a heavy derail.
I will say I would've liked to see more open vinyl and less sprays on these one offs. Grey base vinyl for the Golem sounds pretty nice. On the bodies at least. The one with the red metallic face is probably my favorite.

Re: Target Earth
I prefer the aps on the Dump Golems. The simpler color palette and spray patterns allow the grey base to shine a bit more, and accent the sculpt quite nicely, whereas the Lowbrows just look drowned in metallics to me.
As for the derail, well, Mr. Black started it by discretely posting links to his current shop offerings here. If he had posted the pictures after the toys had been sold, fine. If he had mentioned that the images were of small batch runs of these toys that he was selling, and would we please click through if we're interested, someone here might have cried foul, but at least it would have been an upfront way to go about it. The ensuing discussion - yes, after I called out what I thought I was seeing - struck me as being almost entirely on point and appropriate; the body releases white blood cells to combat infectious disease and foreign invaders. If anything it was like a little bit of fresh air, considering how this thread has been developing of late, with the negativity being directed at the carpetbagger instead of the manufacturer of carpets for once.

Re: Target Earth
Just some thoughts on these from a long time fan of TE and Mr. Sato... Not sure what the motivation was to make these now but they are what they are. I admit I have no idea what you paid for these but retail is over 3X retail of the Japan version. IMHO doing a release like this hurts TE brand as it goes against TE made to order sales model. Please don't read that as an attack it is not, I just can't afford to pay that kinda price. The whole lottery idea with these also is really off compared to TE preorder sales methods. All the blogs that are covering these seem to be promoting you KM versus TE as well... So why not just make a toy of your own at this point to market them your way/methods? I have been collecting TE for over a decade and greatly love the availability of that brand. It would have been nicer to see a more reasonable price point that keeps within TE standards. But as I said I have no idea what the cost was nor other factors to produce these dolls. I also still think the original releases of these dolls by Mr. Sato look much much better: I am just curious about a few things with these exclusives so figured I would just ask here: Did you say Mr. Sato painted these? If not then who painted these? Dappun looks like his paints but these big Golem seem much different to his paint style. I guess if you or anyone has the funds to do exclusives with TE (and others) honestly I would have rather seen you produce a new sculpt or any of the dozen or so unproduced TE sculpts/characters. The Daikyo type version of Bagun would be sooooo stellar: Shame with that weird dream intruder... "Desuman" never getting made. Was looking forward to that doll since it is same size as Turkey Phantom... Hoping to see this finally released in the Fall: Time will tell.......

All I know is that I love that doofy grin on the Bagun. Seriously, the doofiest. Makes me want one more, because he looks like a little kid imagining himself smashing buildings.

Re: Target Earth
We are really on the same page with this stuff. I really just think the 'sale' mentioned need specific clarification and how it related to TE/justification for the custom and price point. As you said, it was not what most fans come to expect from TE. kichigai wrote: I also still think the original releases of these dolls by Mr. Sato look much much better Without a doubt, the original release is far and away my favourite, and a huge standout in style and execution. kichigai wrote: The Daikyo type version of Bagun would be sooooo stellar THAT is something I would love to see as well. Bagun is a delight, and I think the paint style would really work on him giving him that excellent 'vintage' pachi monster feel. Not that the recent stuff is very good, but I do miss the earlier days of TE doing more of the vintage and classic characters. kichigai wrote: Shame with that weird dream intruder... "Desuman" never getting made. I still hold out some hope we might see this from TE. The projects are coming fast and furious, which is great new of course for TE fans, but I do hope that he can find some time to come back to some of the originals, as well as vintage style pachi guys, because I really want to see these made. It is a creative well that never runs dry. Desuman is great as an idea and that test version, and I am always excited for what TE can come up with in the future.

One of a kind work by Mr. Sato is obviously much more expensive. kichigai wrote: IMHO doing a release like this hurts TE brand as it goes against TE made to order sales model.
I do not see how this hurts the TE brand. Look at it as just an addition to how TE sells his toys. He offers all his usual pre-orders himself at very fair prices and available to everyone. In addition to that he now offers special releases and one of a kind work in limited quantity's through KaijuMonsteR. kichigai wrote: So why not just make a toy of your own at this point to market them your way/methods?
Not sure how this relates but I am doing this also.

Re: Target Earth
Thanks for the replies. Those pics you just posted do look much nicer!
I agree and disagree on some points and as you said, you can charge what you like.
My point is mainly jumping into or pushing the price point to that level isolates fans.
As a fan I do not want to see TE products turn into the money game that goes on with:
HXS, Pushead & the NNN circle where many folks like the dolls but few own and less keep.
Case in point the Brutal A that retailed for $180 (I think) and now just a few months later is on a certain site going for 10X that with days to go.......
The dolls become financial investments rather than being enjoyed as sculptural entities.
I do not disagree Mr. Sato should get more exposure, he is a Sofvi Master!
Quite happy to hear the Desuman will finally be made along with some of the others.
Can you post pics of the foot with the Autograph?

Re: Target Earth
One offs are sold at a premium by a variety of respected makers...looking at this objectively on the surface and not knowing the particulars, I don't see any serious issue.
The paints look good and consistent with Sato's style on other one- offs I have seen/owned, such as custom faceless bulls.
If Sato continues offering most releases in the affordable preorder fashion, then what is the problem, really? Aside from posting sales links in the thread.
Me personally, I like the paints a lot but not the sculpt.

Re: Target Earth
I don't have any issues with KM to be clear on that. He answered my questions.
I am honestly glad someone besides myself takes some initiative to work with TE.
If working on these dolls affords Mr. Sato more opportunities - that alone is great!
TE deserves much more respect than Mr. Sato gets on here. Disagree? Fuck Off.
If you do not like TE, find something that you do enjoy- life is shorter than most care to realize.
After KM explained and answered my questions I think that the price points are still high but are by no means invalid.
If the KM exclusives are based on more exotic applications and are centric to 1 offs then there should be a place for the results to be shared.
If these particular dolls are not promoted or welcomed on here, then where?
In part not many folks here seem to know how hard it is to commission anything, the wait is endless.
The money made is pocket change at best and usually applied to more productions.
Too often if a person has a negative opinion here, folks bite on that and ride it out with nothing to add to the TE thread.
How many pages on SB are nothing but opinions? How many photos are in the volume of pages?
My only point in starting to post again is to engage in valid discussions of TE.
There is no other Monsters related board that covers TE so regardless of opinions which all are entitled to, at the end of the day-
Is this place about a mutual love of Monsters, Japanese ones in particular or is this just to become a gated community of trolls?

Re: Target Earth
I know your relationship with TE and love of Sato's toys kichigai, I was directing my comments more towards the general dissonance related to this one -off release.
Agree 100% Sato deserves more respect for his contributions to the hobby.
And to break some of this down on an elemental level, regardless of your personal feelings, kaijumonster working with Sato to bring one set of custom releases to collectors is more of a contribution to the hobby than 1000 negative comments on this message board. MOST of the time, negative comments aren't worth jack shit, mine included. All the artists and makers are well aware of this.

My comments were in general as well. Lee you are good people in my book, and always will be. Old pic of collection, after I get into new place will update. Now have more than double what is on that table. This has taken 10 years of dedicated collecting. Money? I could care less.

Spectacular man, it really is. If there is one thing I think folks here can appreciate, even if TE is not their particular thing, it's that kind of dedication.

One of a kind work by Mr. Sato is obviously much more expensive. OBVIOUSLY. I'll keep cherishing my Elegab one-offs which cost the same as a toy from Nari-san's regular runs - less than $100. Re: Target Earth
So is that what you also consider me, since I have offered to date 15 TE exclusives? What this will lead to is information on exclusives that few will know of until sold out. OK back to focus on TE: These Golem 1 offs actually remind me of this Faceless Bull

Killer collection pic, John- FOCUS! Nice.
Interesting to now that Dream Intruder is still going to happen... exceptionally weird, arcane figure concept.
Have the Yummielas actually come out yet? Another amazing, covet-able one...

badteethcomics wrote: A full-size, non-Hukkokudo Zagora by TE would be pretty amazing Hey what's wrong with the Hukkokudo Zagoran?: Many of these toys came from the illustraions in the Sekai No Kajiu books, and were originally made into toys in the 70's by companies like Daikyo. IKB, Miura, and Yonezawa, so I personally love the historical aspect of it all. Here's the orignal Zagora illustration: I get what you are saying about a strictly TE sculpt from scratch though...
