Milton William Cooper was his full name:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Milton_William_Cooper

I used to play his special phone bulletins on my college radio show. When the X-Files came along it seemed like so much of the plot was lifted from Behold a Pale Horse.

You know that feeling when you walk into a room,
and you can't remember what you went in there for?

I feel like that all the time ...

Arrange animal crackers all over the office, divide them up by species if necessary, everyday check in with them, on the fifth day inform a coworker that the lions saw him in a restricted zone.

Although I like hearing about cryptozoology. I do not buy into any of the ghost/UFO/high strangness/conspiracy etc. other then seeing it as sheer entertainment to me. With that saying, Art Bell and or George Noory (COAST TO COAST radio show) are great starting points via talk radio with an ever changing line up of guest and topics.

I got my hands on the magazine Skeptic and Skeptical Inquirer about 10 years ago and it opened my eyes to it all. I still listen to Art and George though almost nightly, I lack the belief but they make for entertaining listening regardless.

Want to mess with your head? read Communion by Whitley Strieber. It took me forever to finish it as it disturbed me so much that I would need long breaks from it, never read such detail regarding alien encounters. There is a movie for it too with Walken but its not nearly what the book is.

this is credited/blamed for alien abduction stories popping up afterwards.Although I've never read the book, I do think that movie is really really creepy. not just because it's walken. theres something about that part where he sees it for the first time. when it pops it's head from behind his dresser ... totally creepy. I think I will go buy the book tommorow.

That is probably one of the most creepiest scenes ever. I saw the movie over 13 years ago and when I saw this thread, that scene was the first damn thing that came to mind... yeah, by the book and read it late at night alone...

Haha, "is someone there?" TERRIBLE, definitely craziest part of it. But yea, the book, whole 'nother world. When you read about the "3 knocks" etc... youll start to lose it somewhere there. Had many friends who could care less about that stuff get halfway through and wish they never read any of it due to the mindfucking.

The entire history of human civilisation
is inextricably intertwined with the story of a war
that is being waged without our knowledge between two
fundamentally opposed secret societies,
the Illuminati and the Atlanteans.
All that keeps us from certain destruction is a third group of
underground anarchists known as the
Justified Ancients of Mu-Mu, or the JAMS for short.

It must be 25 years or more since I first read the "Illuminatus!"
trilogy by Robert Anton Wilson & Robert Shea, so forgive me if
my memory is sketchy, or even fundamentally flawed.

I do remember persuading my father to read it though,
and it was shortly after this that he made the first of several
subsequent - and obviously unsuccessful - attempts to kill me.

In the aftermath I think I was the only person who actually believed
his claims that he was "just following orders".

This is also the reason I chose to move to Japan.
I feel I am safe here with what I know.

The book itself is often mysteriously 'unavailable'.
I have left some clues, but my advice to you,
should you be able to find a copy, is DO NOT READ IT.

I have to go now.

Kick out the JAMS, Motherfuckers.

Have you read 'Them: Adventures with Extremists' by Jon Ronson???
It's pretty amazing, based on a BBC tv series he made , basically he goes off and lives with various crazy types for 6 months at atime....along the way he finds david Ike , KKK, Ruby Ridge types, it's amazing look into conspiracy types and i can highly recommend it!

Whitley Strieber's non-fiction books about his abductions are good, but I thought that Majestic, his fictionalized account of the Roswell crash, was very good, on par with Stephen King in terms of creepiness.

One of my co-workers used to work at a publishing house that handled Strieber's titles. She met him a couple of times, and said that even if you didn't know who he was you'd think he was bat shit crazy.

I agree with Jessie - Fortean Times for sure. I've been a subscriber for years. They have book reviews in every issue. Anyway - On the Track of Unknown Animals by Bernard Heuvelmans is a classic of cryptozoology.

I recommend the Great Mystery Museum by Medicom as a nice series of fortean toys.

Erich Von Daniken's "Chariots of the Gods" books have been widely debunked.
What's less well-known is that he STOLE most of his ideas from
much earlier work by one Brinsley Le Poer Trench, 8th Earl of Clancarty,
member of the British House Of Lords, and keen ufologist.

"Sky People" (1960) is a thorough and well-researched classic of the
'Was God a Spaceman?' genre.

Unfortunately he seems to have gone somewhat bonkers in later years:
"Secrets of the Ages - UFO's from inside the Earth" (1974) purports that aliens "emerged through tunnels from a civilisation which still exists beneath the Earth's crust." There were, he claimed, seven or eight of these tunnels altogether: one at the North Pole, another at the South Pole, and others in such places as Tibet.

"I haven't been down there myself," Clancarty said,
"but from what I gather these beings are very advanced."

"The Cosmic Pulse of Life' By Trevor James Constable.

Weird stuff. Our atmosphere is full of invisible critters, and UFO's are possibly critters.

Orgone energy, Wilhelm Reich.

Early issues of "Strange" magazing are good too.

I was a big Fortean fan for a long time, haven't picked up an issue in years though. I actually was a card carrying member of the US Fortean society and got their quarterly mag(well over a decade ago). Pretty good, don't know if they are still around though.
Strange Magazine was really good, but it was hard to find...

I'm not sure about the EU Times - I'm only guessing it's not a reputable news source - but I enjoy conspiracy theories so thought I'd post this link.
And when my coworker told me about the AR wildlife deaths I told her it was either aliens or weapons testing...so this is "confirmation" of my snap judgement.
It's linking John Wheeler's murder to the bird/fish deaths in Arkansas: http://www.eutimes.net/2011/01/top-us-o ... ass-death/

Yes, these bird/fish dieoffs have been a bonanza for the conspiracy theorists. Time to re-subscribe to Alex Jones' podcast!

I've never had much interest in conspiracy theories. I've had a passing interest in Cryptozoology and Paranormal activity, but my real interest lies in Astral travel/OOBE, whatever you want to call it.
Currently reading Adventures Beyond the Body by William Buhlman.
