Bert can walk the block and get poke balls for days! Hehe. I'm enjoying the game. Our local "hip" area I guess you would call it already organized a Pokemon go pub crawl next Saturday.
In a 4 block radius (the starting point on that first image I posted is my apartment), I can hit up at least a dozen pokestops and 4 gyms. In a 6 block radius, there is probably 3-5 more gyms and a few dozen more stops. A friend of mine made this and it is somewhat true, if you've played Ingress. One of the main things not in Pokemon is a chat. With Ingress, you had team chat so you could actually coordinate with other people on your team. This would be really great when taking over a gym. On the way to dinner, my brother and I decided to go to Japantown which is about 4 blocks from the apartment. We got to Japantown and saw some people playing. One of them yelled out to the others "These's a Goldeen over here!" Me: I guess I should check my screen to see...oh there it is. I don't understand why people are stacking lures at stops that are 10 feet away from each other. Wouldn't it be better to cast a lure after the other one expires?
http://gizmodo.com/armed-robbers-used-pokemon-go-to-find-9-victims-1783416898 Apparently some teenagers have been using the game to find popular spots so they can rob players at gunpoint late at night. Looks like they got 8 or 9 people over the course of a couple days before the cops caught them.
"Bond was set at $100,000 cash only." - Damn, cash only! They don't want these kids to get out right away. On a similar note, if you're going out at odd times of the night by yourself, you're just asking for trouble.
I made the mistake of introducing it to my kids this weekend. Now I fear my cell phone bill will go through the roof. To make matters worse, my wife decided to try it out, and a shopping trip to BJ's took an extra hour as she wandered the store searching for pokemon instead of groceries. Ugh!
HAHA Ok. officially HOOKED. I walked 10k this weekend and am now level 9, with 128 total caught and 40 unique Pokemon in my Pokedex. haha. I guess the walking makes me feel less bad about it. haha. I joined team Blue. I am afraid to take on any gyms until I level up my guys though. haha. CATCHING THEM ALL!
I made excuses to drive kids around yesterday so that I too can catch pokemon... This game is a problem! I walked to the park at midnight last night to catch a bulbasaur and a scyther! I joined team mystic also and have not battled at any gyms. Currently on level 8
Ive only been able to battle one gym and won, Im not too fond of the fighting system so far though. Kind of wish it was classic turn based like the old games.. Maybe i'll warm up to it.
You can transfer duplicates for more candy of that unique Pokemon which will help you level up. And help them evolve. HP HP HP HP!
I know-I'm transferring! I just have too many of the same type of dudes. (Apparently my home is overrun with rats and pigeons-wtf)
Me too. You can alphabetize the list too, so that all the dames are next to each other... I barely found that out yesterday
I'm in the same boat Missy! I have been transferring and evolving my pokemon. We must be in the same location because that is all I have around my house too! I am lucky enough to have a park literally feet away from the house that is consider two pokestops(since there is a trail) If I walk the trail there are two more stops also making it 4 stops YAY!!!!! I stop buy in my car when leaving and coming back to the house muahahahahaha
Seeing it everywhere got to me, so now I'm playing too. Which do you keep if you have duplicates? The one with the highest number? Does the size (xs, xl) have any relevance?
I think it also has to do with their attacks too-I'm still figuring it out as I was never a pokemon player prior to this game, but some of them have specific attacks to their type, and some just have normal type attacks. I have been keeping the ones w/ special attacks and the highest CP.
evolving pokemon gives you like 500xp right? so you can evolve duplicates of guys youve already evolved/powered up for now to get a higher level and catch rare pokemon if im not mistaken!
My neighborhood has been taken over by a group of guys I went to high school with. One gym has a CP lvl 6000+ as the top member. The problem with free games is all the people who spend money on them.
Stayed out way to late last night hunting at the University. Caught a Grimer though so totally worth it.
Haha did you hear about the guy who "hacked" the game and caught all the pokemon from his home? Apparently he downloaded an app to gain remote access to his phone then he duct taped it to a toy drone he purchased and flew all around catching them all for a few days. This is why we can't have nice things.
