@chimmychazz standard size correct? Beautiful toy and nice shot. I've always loved Jamila's crazy snake face and hunched shoulders.
standard size indeed! he is a great figure, including how the rubber suit vent/eye holes actually made it into the sculpt. plus when you search the #ジャミラ hashtag on IG, it brings up pictures of everyone doing their best jamila impersonations
They can be very agreeable if you just get to know them. COUGH collect vintage COUGH!!! A little 2am double entendre.
The best part of painting work is the contrast of metallic green with black paint. @Sanjeev Do you have photos of the foot stamps of your vintage Mecha? Best regards!
Yeah, I love the contrast in the paint colors, and also the contrast between the paint colors and the base vinyl itself! I don't have a photo of the bottom of his feet handy (and the figure is stored out of town)...but it's the common Bullmark stamp on one foot and nothing on the other. I'll try to remember to take a picture next time I have access to the figure.
@Alebrije @Sanjeev - This photo from a Mandarake blog post seems to show the Bullmark stamp on the right foot and engraving on the left foot: Unless that is just a repainted Bandai reissue, but their post was claiming it's original. Here is a comparison photo:
Thank you @Sanjeev! @deafmetal thank you for the comparison photo, had not thought that it would be possible to paint the reprint of Bandai so that it looks like the original Bullmark. Fortunately the reproduction made by Bandai has a very light gray vinyl and the original Bullmark looks a little darker, more like the color of the M1 go. Have you heard of any cases where some modern edition was passed as if it were vintage? Best regards!
Ah, stamp on one foot...engraved writing on the other. Yeah, that's probably right. I haven't really looked at my figure that closely in years! I've definitely never heard of anyone trying to pass off a modern repro as an original. I suppose it's possible, but I figure it would be too easy to tell the difference in person for the scam to work. I mean, these are not common...and any transaction involving several thousands of dollars (hundreds of thousands of yen!) will have built-in safeguards against such fuckery.
I see shady eBay sellers trying to surreptitiously pass off repros as vintage pretty frequently. One seller has a giant Baltan reissue for sale for something like 5000 USD, vaguely trying to pass it off as vintage. He may not be straight up calling it the original, but I think with the ridiculous price point, it's implied and maybe some sucker will go for it.
Here is a better and larger photo of the original Bullmark MechaGodzilla. This particular one is in the collection of Mike Russo.
^^Stunningly minty! That pisses me off...but I honestly wonder how such a scam could be pulled off. Sure, say some sucker buys the toy...as soon as they get it in hand, they'll know it's a repro (and if the DON'T at that point, then they deserve to get taken!), report the fraud, and get the funds yanked back, no questions asked. eBay/PayPal security is notoriously biased towards buyers (as long as the auction clearly says vintage--again, if it doesn't, then they deserve to get taken!).
@Sanjeev - Sounds like MechaG needs to get out of storage and smell the fresh air out here on the west coast. I have an adoption space all ready and waiting...
