I laughed really hard when I saw #1.

But, congratulations to the guys from the board and elsewhere who are producing great toys and are getting recognized for it.

I skimmed it, so maybe I missed it, but I was surprised there was no pushead on the list. But way to go Paul, Rich, gargamel, etc!

I think his number 1 was made more out of sentiment than anything else...but to me, it is just a list in no order. Everyone has their own opinions on what should be #1, what should be on the list, what should not be on the list, and what have you. Make your own and post it somewhere and you'll get the same reaction.

Pretty comprehensive list. I'm surprised that there weren't any Tokion or Dorbel toys. I always thought Kaz Kat was cool too.

Pretty pointless list in that it's just some guy's personal opinion. About as useful as a celebrity playlist on itunes.

not really, considering Gino's a serious collector i think it's useful too see what he considers the top 50. This list is more like seeing a musician's top 50 list of songs.

I would dig to see some more of these lists from various bloggers, artists etc. or even a skullbrain poll.

The list claims that YHWH was created by Mark Nagata and not Mark Ryden.

"Designer" LOL. Congrats to the folks here who rule.
I hate those. Even for musician's I like, almost more because they always like some stuff I hate. I'd rather NOT know sometimes.

I'll never forget the day I found out George Frideric Handel's favorite song is "My Dick" by Mickey Avalon. :(

Whelp, glad I don't have to sit through that again - browser lag made it feel like the interminable awards show filled with recognitions for folk I don't care about that it was - all praise due to the boardies and board-runners that peppered the list. No worries on being a part of this pageant dragging you down; from what I've just read your toys are all united by the important characteristic of being hard to find, anyway :D

You know, I posted this to say congrats to people that got recognized for their efforts...but rather congradulate them, you guys just piss on their parade. So I'll ask again, what the fuck have you guys done for this toy scene...other than buy, and beg, and cry...

i think collector's support through buying is a very important aspect of this hobby. Therefore i think i have done a lot for the "scene" :)

I did congratulate the guys on my FB page. I didn't mean anything negative by jumping in on the joking. While not a definitive list by any means, I like that he has such diverse taste and I'm glad to see some recognition for some SB active designers. My list wouldn't look the same but a lot of toy collectors wouldnt like my list. Every designer on the list has done more than I have for the toy scene. I'm okay with that but it's still natural for me to form opinions on the art and toys I see. I do try and remember that it is just my opinion. :)

The use of the word designer is all for you SA!

    um, yeah.

I know a "serious" collector or two (hundred)...and at the end of the day, no matter who makes the list up, it's still a masturbatory excersise. it's always a matter of opinion.

You do know that "Rocky," while a great movie, beat "Taxi Driver" AND "Network" for best picture at the Oscars, right?!?

EDIT: I just looked at this list...and I don't even think I needed to post the above. "Mac and Me" just took the Academy Award for best picture.

Congrats to the guys on the board getting the exposure and recognition you deserve.  But over all the list is pretty weak and seems like the guy was reaching and struggling to fulfill the 50 while leaving out some really good toy makers.

What makes someone a "serious" collector? Buying every "limited" or "hard to find" toy in the market?

Well, I'd say buying and supporting is the most important part of any "scene". So yeah, that's what the fuck I've done.

How quickly everyone forgets the impact the Teddy Trooper had on the toy world...short memories.

Revolutionary figure, for those of us who remember, REVOLUTIONARY.
