^^love the show but hate the hosts, they just seem lame. As far as the mimicking, I feel like all those types of shows manage to get their own "format" of how they talk. Like pawn stars, those dudes all talk in the same fashion. I think American chopper started that shit, it seems like any show where the people do commentary on something they did or said does it. Or theyll do commentary on something that is obvious, it's fuckin annoying.

    Average Pawn stars scenario:

guy says to lady: "I can't buy this cause I wont make any profit"
guy says in commentary: "So I told the lady 'I can't buy this cause I wont make any profit' "

    wtf??

I try to focus more on the crazy hillbillies they generally deal with, there is an episode entitled mole man which is ridiculous as this guy in PA has a giant tunnel system 15 feet underground with rooms under his property

I saw that episode. That tunnel system was pretty insane. Another thing that is amazing are the people that collect old buildings. Some of those people have "mini-towns" in their yard (gas station, general store, restaurant, etc.)

Donnie and Sammo also have a good fight in Killzone SPL. It has a lot of grabs but you can practically feel those hits. There's also an intense fight with Donnie and Jing Wu.

They ARE supposed to make a 3rd IP man but I think it's the prequel. No Donnie Yen but that guy sure looks like him, and Sammo Hung comes out as well.

Bliss hit the instant que. One of my favorite 80's films. An Australian flick that on the surface is a great love story but deeper is about how our perceptions of reality ccause our reactions towards it.

There are a few different Bliss titles so....

I've been waiting to see The Gallants. Can't find a sub copy. The one I did manage to get the subs were not in sink and it drove me crazy but it looks hilarious. Reminds me of the early 80's HK films that hooked me in the first place.

Also looking for Tsui Hark's All About Women, just because it's from Tsui. Often dissapointing but sometimes mind blowing.

Just started watching Party Down. So far, every episode was filled with laughter. Pretty funny show. If you guys have not seen it yet, I highly recommend it. Almost as good as Arrested Development, but cruder.

Dogtooth was amazing; I can't believe it got nominated this year, but I'm really glad it did.
Void... not so much, but... let me know what you thought.

I'm currently watching I THINK WE'RE ALONE NOW, about two people who stalk.... Tiffany. No shit.

I knew what Dogtooth was before watching it, since it screened for a couple weeks at a local cinema before and I'd meant to check it out - but it certainly wasn't what I was expecting. I can only imagine that someone in America is already planning to cook up a more mainstream comedic version of it for our market

We started Void last night, but my migraine-prone girlfriend had a headache last night, and since it starts off with a shitload of strobing imagery (triggers migraines) and POV / shakey-cam (triggers migraines) it only lasted about 10 minutes. We'll try again in a day or two, but I remember it from Fantastic Fest, where me and all of my friends skipped it. Knowing it's about drug use, and seems to have a fair amount of POV, I can tell you already I won't enjoy it.

I Think We're Alone Now is creepy awesome. We caught that on the big screen, which only intensified the creepiness. Hope you enjoyed it!

Void was by far one of the oddest films I've seem in quite some time. If they mixed up the perspective it would have been a much better film. I really wanted to like as the visuals where amazing. But in the end I can't say I would recommend it.

I came away from this very impressed with Tiffany's ability to be caring and compassionate towards her stalker. Seems that after the initial shock and the restraining order she came to understand that he suffered from severe aspergers and wasn't a threat.
But wow - the two subjects of this documentary had it BAD...

I agree. I do appreciate the fact that they were trying something different, though. I just don't think it worked.
And I get that the main character loved his sister and all, but why would you want to stick around and watch her have sex? That just seemed really bizarre and creepy to me. :?

Gaspar Noe's "We Fuck Alone" short (part of destricted) has shades of the the same frustratingly "doing something different" approach he used on Void. At 23.5 seconds, it was still too long.

I like Noé's films. In fairness "Enter the Void" is best seen on a big screen in one sitting. It's too long, though. At least a half-hour's worth of flying around Tokyo could have been cut out. I've watched the title sequence alone numerous times. It's a pretty amazing assault. "Irreversible" was a better film, but there are at least two ultraviolent scenes that are pretty tough to get through. I almost didn't finish it on first watching, but I'm glad I did. It all makes sense in the end. Er, beginning.

I read an interview with Noé recently in which he was asked to whom he'd recommend his films. He said "I don't recommend that anyone see my films, because they're just too much for most people." 8)

i have a huge respect for the execution of enter the void, but i'll concede that the character having the out of body experience was disturbing / uninteresting / kind of a dick sometimes. i do wish i'd seen it in theaters.

haven't watched anything new on instant in a while due to accessibility issues, but i'll heartily third the enthusiasm for party down. very funny show.

I'm technically watching it on project free tv, so I guess it might not count, but I just finished Deadwood Season 1. I remember trying to watch it awhile back and not being able to get through an episode, but I finally got hooked. I think Al Swearengen is probably in my top 10 villains of all time and has singlehandedly brought 'cocksucker' back to my vocabulary!

Deadwood is a great series. I'm a fan of westerns anyways, so it was pretty easy for me to get into it. It's a shame they never got to finish it.

you've seen nothing yet. deadwood is a tough show to get into, but season 2 is even better and probably has even more utterances of "cocksucker" and other favorites. finished the whole series finally a couple months ago and it's a crying shame things were cut short at season 3.

in netflix-related news, twin peaks and all the star treks should hit streaming around april because of a new deal with cbs. if you haven't seen that stuff, you'll be able to get on it.
