Watched the entire Carlos mini-series last night.Edgar Ramirez was amazing in it. Recommended if your a fan of films like Che or The Baadder Meinhof Complex which are also on instant.
Currently watching SLC Punk for the first time in my adult life, and it's quite comical to realize Jason Segel in it Recently watched Graveyard of Honor, Exit Through the Giftshop, Supersize Me, and Kevin Smith's Too Fat For 40.
Ugh, I meant to watch this movie like a decade ago and just never got around to it. I watched it based on the fact that I've seen loads of Miike's flicks, and am trying to see the lot I've skipped. The movie is great, but both me and my girlfriend enjoyed it a lot more before drugs came into the story. The number of scenes featuring drug use just feels extensive, and we found ourselves asking "this isn't over yet?" from time to time. I wouldn't tout it as one of his best or anything, but I'm glad we watched it. Speaking of Miike, you really really have to see 13 Assassins. I sincerely hope it's a change of pace for him that we'll see more of in the future.
Funny you said 13 assassins, I watched the preview from ondemand and really liked what I saw. I like this genre of film much more so I will probably watch this first.
I watched about 5 seasons and both movies in a week or so. I'm sad there's only about a season and a half to go before I've seen everything. This is one of the best shows EVER
Regarding, "Trailer Park Boys", here are 2 of my favorite scenes NSFW http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Qg_belm6 ... re=related http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQufxG1G ... re=related and you just can't help but love Ricky http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VAlBvxjA ... re=related
Ricky reminds me of my stepbrother ... but I'd never tell him that! I still haven't seen the movies. Gotta check 'em out.
Just added the newish frank hennenlotter movie bad biology to my instant queue... the man made basket case and brain damage... I'm excited
the first one is i watched it a couple of days ago... which is hilarious since i own it but i was to lazy to get off the couch so i just queued it up lol
This thread really took a silent death. I don't understand why it's not still kicking around. Tonight I watched Tokyo Drifter - if you have any interest in classic vintage Japanese films, or just like Nikkatsu film in general, I'd suggest catching this before it's taken off streaming next Friday. The use of lighting in this flick really sticks it to modern day junk. It's been a while since I watched an old Japanese movie that had nothing to do with monsters (I think the last one was Hausu) and I was delighted to see this. Makes me wish I had the Nikkatsu collection that Criterion put out. Next on my list is Chawz, and then to re-watch The Man From Nowhere (which is totally great if you haven't seen it yet).
Meh, I don't care. I see so much online crying about it but it really doesn't affect me and that's my general spoiled American attitude. Here's why I don't care: 1- I use streaming 99% of the time, so no DVD's aren't a big stink for me. 2- If I WANT something on DVD (aka it's not on streaming) I can go to Redbox or use "online methods" to get what I might want to see. 3- $16 for both still isn't TERRIBLE! I saw one blogger say "the best at home entertainment deal just got killed" Uuuum no, $16 is still WAY fucking cheaper then cable. It's STILL the best deal, whether you want JUST streaming or both. It's $16. It's like NOT eating fast food for a damn week. It's not a lot of money even considering the economy, it's cheap, $16 a month isn't much for it, it's cheap, IT'S STILL FUCKING CHEAP! 4- They hinted this would happen months ago when trying to get people to switch to the streaming only service, so I don't feel like it was sudden. 5- Finally, it's still fucking cheap. It's not a lot of money. Cancel cable, and pay $8 a month for streaming only and watch Arrested Development over and over like I do or $16 so you can catch a new release now and then too OR cancel it and be a brash weirdo and go back to $834094 cable bills and $64 rental fee's at Blockbuster if you can find one while you burn $23509 worth of gas to get there and kill baby seals. Honestly I hope they upload everything online, I'd pay more for that. Like if EVERYTHING was up streaming. ALSO they're going to start getting shows direct to the streaming, I think Mad Men's next season will hit Netflix as it does cable. And isn't some Kevin Spacey show hitting it exclusively? I mean, it's continuing to just get better for the streaming.
so there's word of more (and recent) movies being streamed?! also, (probably not the place for it but since we are talking about cutting cable) is hulu+ a good service?
It's just to discourage those of us who like actually getting DVDs in the mail, and even so, as I think I heard somewhere, IT'S STILL FUCKING CHEAP! It doesn't even cost the price one ONE new DVD. Anyway... Just checked out Jan Svankmeijer's Alice. Hadn't seen it in years! Still bonkers, still amazing. If you've never seen any JS, Netflix also has one of his amazing collections of shots streaming as well. You'd be doing yrselves some good to have a look! After all, the price is right...
I'm not a fan of the Hulu service because the only show on it that's not on Netflix I like is "Bob's Burgers" and I'm not going to pay $7 a month to watch that when I can stream it free on my computer and they have commercials. Why am I paying when there's commercials? If there's ad's, there's your income, you don't need my money. I don't feel like they have all that much anyway.
