How about these two beauties, Garamon is always a win for me but the Antora is a must have. I'm glad they keep doing these reissues of rare colors, I don't think I will be able to find an original of that Antora. Bullmark CG color Garamon and variant Antora by Baikin, on Flickr
Damn! I just spent $60 on Mandarake yesterday and then I find out about that Antlar... Oh well, I'll find it later.
These shipped yesterday and are beyond amazing. The King Ghidorah is crazy, need to order the Medicom exclusive that matches it now.
The prophecy came true! Albeit in a little too busy way- still Glow + Bullmark Standard Zazahn is my monster equivalent of Red Bullmark Ultraman. Rare and Expensive originals nice to see getting the reissue. I only wish they kept the color scheme the same (vintage below): EDIT: The top two pics are essentially the same GID toy although the pic I found on the left looks like it's on flesh vinyl. I think it's either lighting or maybe they painted a flesh prototype to show off the color scheme?
Me want! Hedorah limited event exclusive to The Art of Godzilla. http://miyazaki-ac.com/godzilla2015tokusatsu
These turned out better than I thought they would (pics stolen from omocha toy store: Still haven't received a shipping invoice from Toy Underground though
I was on the fence and passed as well, so of course the paint ap on the end result ended up much better than any of the preview pics.
Eiji posted these previews 450 size series Baltan and Baragon expected for Summer release. Comparison with standard sizes. Per Eiji Baltan has not hit wax stage yet and you are looking at the actual sculpting stage.
It's funny how Godzilla and Ultraman collectors praise the vintage Marusan and Bullmark sculpts, but when it comes to the reissues and even new sculpts from the two company there is not much talk about them. Marusan 450 series size comparison to the Bandai 500 series.
Do we know the sculpt story with the 450s? The 'new' ones always just look like digital upscaling* to me, with no immediately perceptible differences -- other than size, of course -- from the original character sculpts. Much of the charm of the vintage variations, for me, is how different the takes on the beasts are from one another. That said... Fantastic! Throw a DigiMagular and a Pyggy mini in there and you're all set. *Or whatever the correct terminology might be.
I don't think there is a story to it or much of one. Anyone with more insight please feel free to share.
Well, I agree, but I don't think there is that much less talk on these than any of the 'related' toys either. It is unfortunate (to me anyways), but the general interest of the board has shifted a fair amount away from 'traditional' kaiju stuff, to be more artist and indie-centric. Which is completely fine, there is so much room for everything on here, but I do miss seeing the same excitement and avid discussion for new releases like these or M1-Go or the like. But, for those of us still kickin' around who are interested in it, we are quite passionate about it, so that's always a positive.
I'm really keen to see the painted version of Baragon 450. The paint application on the Neronga and Pagos are superb! They have a very super smooth feel and glossy finish to them. Re-sculpt of the Giant Gorilla, in these two color versions.
Is this your pic, Anthony? Myself, I'd be much more excited for a swing at a quality repro of old tubby. The new sculpt might as well just be a Soul of Bullmark 450, you know?
I am with you David, there is definitely some major appeal to the chubbly Giant Barry. I would really love to have one in my vintage - or repro'd - collection. Can you imagine a GID with Yuji's rainbow sprays? Man, all these great toys are reminding me that I need to update my 450 database. Sorry fellas; things, life, blerg, I have let it slip.
That picture is mine. I've since upgraded both figures with less wear on the paint seen in these pictures.
I may be in the minority, but I think I'd actually prefer an embiggened standard Baragon than the vintage giant. Sure, the giant's fun and derpy...but the standard is...PERFECT.
